I’m just wondering why anyone would want to go to the US these days - it’s a helluva sick country.
Had this conversation with my daughter recently. She despairs in that she calls it "the country that has it all" in terms of natural beauty but she simply has no urge to go because of the thought that just about every other person there is "packing heat".

I was planning hols in a nice resort in the Caribbean (again) this year but I’ve decided that there’ll probably be too many potentially dangerous political conversations in the bars and pools, so I’ll more likely be heading east instead.

Had the misfortune to be ‘zoned in on’ by an American couple whilst away in Seville hotel. I was trying to be polite and engaged light conversation. Within minutes Mr Big Gob from America was laying into just about any and every country and peoples and extolling the greatness of U.S.A.

Mrs Big Gob proved equally as endearing. Mrs Amex and I very quickly deduced that they were as thick as shit, racist, xenophobic, neo nazi shit bits so we made our excuses and left the situation.

You would be amazed how many times whilst we were out exploring Seville Mr & Mrs Big Gob were spied in the distance and we swiftly changed direction to avoid getting anywhere near them.

God bless America? He has got a lot of blessing to do if he’s to ever save the soul of that nation.

That's a bit of an extreme measure to avoid going to somewhere you (presumably) wanted to go, isn't it? We went to Mexico last May – to a resort full of Americans – and we managed to either not engage with them or, when we did, not talk about politics. If nothing else, it's all so facking BORING. And pointless getting into random conversations with strangers. Or maybe I'm just a miserable bugger :lolol:

Like Brexit, isolationism isn't good for inward tourism.

US immigration aside its generally a welcoming place for Brits and their culture is fascinating yet equally disturbing

As an American who also avoids my fellow countrymen while traveling abroad, I don’t think this is limited to Brits! Question: do you also avoid travelers from the UK that differ in their political beliefs? (~50% of Americans support Trump and ~50% are opposed- so it’s hard to lump them all together politically)
50/50 odds aint that tempting if there are loads of you lot about.

especially when a fair chunk of your 50% sensibly claim to be Canadian.
