I can see people having issues with LGBT and DEI matters, don't agree, but fine. But it is so dispiriting to see climate change lumped in as a 'woke' issue. There was a time when the Conservatives were a party of environmental protection. Dealing with climate change should have support across the political spectrum, they can disagree how to do it, that's normal, but to dismiss the issue entirely as 'woke' is so damaging - it will be the end of the world as we know it

Every step she takes down this path is another step the tories take into the political wilderness. Keep going Kemi
I'm not a natural Tory voter, but I get misty-eyed over Major and Clarke running the country very competently. In fact I'd rather they were in power than the current Labour party tbh.

I think what I mean to say in response to the quoted post is that it's not a good when vast swathes of the electorate are politically homeless. The centre-left had been for years and now the centre-right are, all the while the Tories are being led by increasingly stupid donkeys.

There’s plenty of research that’s shown that companies in the top % for diversity are more profitable and more successful than those that aren’t. There are many reasons for this and many reasons why diversity isn’t just morally right but makes business sense too, and why formal policies to promote it are necessary. As far as I know there’s no reliable evidence that diversity is a problem for the way organisations run or perform. Nor is it a problem for society functioning more effectively except for those who don’t like it and choose isolated examples to try and make a point to justify their personal prejudice.

To have it made such a centrepiece of political discourse it’s almost like the Tories and Farage et al hate the country and want to make it even more fractured and poor by pushing ideology without evidence because doing that with Brexit wasn’t enough damage for them.

While I agree with your sentiment I do think we need a decent opposition to hold the government to account. The Lib Dems aren't in a position (currently) to do so and heaven help us if it's Deformed. So rather than buggering off into the wilderness the Tories need to move back to being more centre - not going to happen with mad Kemi though.

I think centre left and centre right are both well represented in Government at the moment. The problem is that some can't see it as they are so concerned with the colour of the rosette, that they believe Kemi is the answer :dunce:

At what point are the Conservatives going to realise that out-simpletoning the Reform party will not restore them to power? The Conservatives appear hell bent on being led by increasingly stupid/useless cretins, and the bar was already incredibly low.
When people stop voting for them, I suspect. Right now though, there's a lot of comfort in being ignorant

Lovely fashy conference, all the usual odd balls. Lib Dems will be pretty happy with Bad Enoch's bad performance, these lost Tories ain't returning anytime soon

It strikes me that any concern for the greater good, or for the good of others is now chastised as being 'woke'.

Which is a sad place to be.

She's seen the way the wind is blowing so, leaning right, complaining about Woke ( also known as considering other people ), anti migration and calling out an alleged collapse of previous values is the way to get noticed now. Ironic that Trump and his poodle James Vance are systematically destroying everything that stood for rules and rights based order.... the World's gone mad.

if there is anyone in 25 years time left to record and analyse our current political climate globally and nationally they will assume collective madness.
