After discussions with my sister (who is 5 years older than me and took me to a few gigs when I was very young), we think it was this on the Saturday for my birthday

I don't really remember any of the bands, but remember that it was so badly organised that it became a free festival and, somewhat ironically Free didn't want to play for free :lolol:

Exactly that, I saw a trio of Genesis, Lindisfarne and er someone else at the Dome, for about five bob in 1970 ish - as you say, a promo gig 👍happy memories.

Keith Emerson was with The Nice prior to ELP and toured with Pink Floyd, The Move, Amen Corner and the icing on the cake The Jimi Hendrix Experience. All were at The Dome 2 December 1967 in an iconic gig that made up for missing The Who at The Downs Hotel.

My mother and father went to that Dome gig.

I know that The Who played at the Florida Room, adjacent to the old aquarium, but I didn't know that they had played at The Downs Hotel.

My father saw The Who (and The High Numbers) at The Florida Room. I think they played there regularly. As an aside, the last gig I went to before I left the UK was The Who with him, at Southampton Rose Bowl.

I'm not sure my parents went, but a fair few of their friends did, It never ceases to amaze me MC5 played in Angmering.

Clark Hutchinson were fairly local? I think the singer lives in Eastbourne? MIghty baby were from the ashes of the Action.

I'm still stunned that one of the biggest/first free festivals in the UK was in Worthing, I was there and don't remember anything. (That's a brilliant R&R story until I say that it can't remember was because I was too young :lolol: )

Wow, that is wild. Never heard of Phun City festival before. I’m sure my great-grandparents would have been able to hear it from their house!

A glance at Wikipedia relates that both Billy Idol and Mick Jones were in attendance, and they both say that seeing MC5 changed their lives, plus Jones fell in a ditch😀

Looking for help with my memory on this concert (Stiff Little Fingers at Brighton Centre). I have this distant recollection that the show finished with a cover of ‘Teenage Kicks’. But have asked Google, and can’t find any trace of it. Can those who were also there confirm or deny? Or share my uncertainty?
