I'm down to 8 visible threads on page 1 due to not being remotely interested in the the group trauma therapy stuff. Yeah I'm pissed off, but I prefer to exit and move on before it all starts.

Anyway. An 'out front' mount is in transit and I'll be popping out later to have a look at bottle cages and bags. I might even get one of those for the handle bar.

Not wanting to be @banjo ed, I will defo get a small back up pump but will now get a rechargeable one too.

New lights, or pinch from the road bike?

Switched up to some new winter tyres (DSI branded) at the weekend...bargain price of £30 for the pair from Baldwins Cycles.
Game changer. Roll nicely on the tarmac, but super grippy on the off-road stuff.

I have unboxed the Marin, but nothing else. Stone me; those tyres are like hot weather motorcycle racing tyres. Slick AF.

Ha. Still partially wrapped, so will unwrap and add the accessories next weekend. Just spare tubes and a chargeable pump to go I think.

Ah, I thought you’d purchased a gravel bike. So confused to why it came equipped with slick tyres. 😬
It is a smegging gravel bike. Maybe the slicks justify the price drop?

Defo didnt have slicks in the advert!!??!!
@Fignon's Ponytail, the web page said "Occasionally, without notice, manufacturers change product design and/or specifications." The spec said "Vee Tire Co., Spicer, 700x35". It feels a bit like they had some hard to shift slicks and swapped them over. I ought to whinge but that's not my style.

If it will take them....

I swear by these for standard gravel / road use over the Summer...Schwalbe Land Cruisers (35 / 38 / 40c). They roll so nicely on the smooth stuff, but have enough traction on the off road sections to keep you zipping along the trails, too. Pretty much bombproof, and the only stuff they don't deal with is really sloppy conditions. Bargain at less than £20 a tyre too.

Nice, I’m on WTB Raddler 45’s atm. Want to be able to carry on riding the proper off road routes through winter, so thinking of upgrading to 50c’s

They look inspired by the farming community. Favoured by Wurzels?

I quite like them.

I'll probably get a pair.

When I first looked into them, I found an article saying they were fitted as standard on a lot of MTBs sold in Germany.
That was good enough for me, and I always use them over the summer as they roll really nicely on hardpack. The missus has a pair on her e-bike too after constantly puncturing the set it came with. Shes not had a flat since.
If you do get some, try and go for the ones with the extra protection belt. Bit heavier, but worth it.

Those tyres, 'adventure road' "Mount up a set and hit the open, yet sometimes rough, road".

I suppose I could commute on them to get acclimatised to it.

Me and the missus are off to Le Grand Depart in July in Lille. Was surprised to see that the start / finish isn't in the centre of town by the big town square, but a couple of miles away. So, with that in mind, I've just picked up a folding bike for her (eBay) for £49, and hopefully another on Marketplace for me. Will be perfect to chuck in the back of the car for the weekend as we will be driving off to catch part of the next day towards Boulogne as well.
Im gonna look so cool in my kit & aero lid, zooming round the French streets on it....I was thinking full 1986 La Vie Claire / LOOK kit? 😁 🤪

Love the navy blue @Motogull Looks really nice - hope you enjoy it!
Thanks. Final orders have been placed including your suggested tyres, although a power bank for the front bag will be needed. I wanted 38s as closest to the 36s present but could only get 40s. Close enough.

Those tyres, seemingly not available in the UK so it looks like they were fitted in the US. Pretty pricey, $70 leaving me in something of a dilemma suggesting they will be good for 'green laneing' but that is not quite what I had in mind. I wonder if I could use them as a back up for the road bike?

I'm not too happy with the brakes, so will have to get a LBS to check them out (before I go down a hill).

Pretty much good to go.
