Expat used to apply for those who worked abroad for British based companies or armed forces, but returned when their work had finished.
My ex worked in Saudi for two years for British Aerospace. He didn't emigrate there.

People who buy homes (apart from a holiday home) are immigrants.
Well they are immigrants in their chosen country, however to us that are left behind they are Ex Pats.

If (IF!) people still need someone to blame, then blame Cameron and the tories. But nothing to be gained by that, utterly pointless 9 (NINE!) years later. My preference would be to make the best of instead and jettison the negative Nellie’s still harking on about after all this time eg if people are able to and want to move into the EU because of, then that will free up space for all the immigrants desperate to come here, so every cloud and all that!
What about those of us who want to stay in this great country and also want to hold the malign opinion formers to account for the economic disaster they persuaded the 'suggestibles' to vote for?

Our high tech UK manufacturing business has suffered hugely from red tape, beaurocracy and additional costs directly as a result of brexit, without a single benefit. This must be being played out in a similar fashion in thousands of companies across the country, yet is for some bizarre reason not reported on.

Brexit has been an appalling mistake and should be overturned in its entirety as soon as possible.

Really sad for the UK that Labour are not brave enough to stand up to the minority and push this through.

Fill your boots, but there probably aren’t enough prison spaces (another thing they’re responsible for!)

In fairness Farage does that already every time he opens his gob
By the way, Colour Sergeant Frank Bourne was from Balcombe, a few miles from where I live.... just a piece of trivia for you, if you didn't already know.....

No they haven't.

They have done what was required to see the Tories booted out.

Talking down Labour will serve only one interest - the return to power of the Tories.

Here is a test.
I have him on ignore so I don't know:

Has Potty* been posting on how much he supports and admires Starmer for not giving us another Brexit referendum?

*@Is it PotG?

Sorry, your post makes no sense to me

It does seem that certainly not for the first or certainly last time, you and CR are in complete agreement
I’ve actually met CR, we got on well and agreed on many things!

That right there is the problem I have with this Government….. if they were genuinely in favour of rejoining the EU then campaign on it, put it in the manifesto and tell people what you are going to do when in government. Not abandon your principles (and say anything) to get elected because if you do, once you are elected, then on a human level you are ‘less than’ before you start.

No compromise with the electorate!
(The slogan of Militant in the 80s, in case you forget or were to young to notice)

Politics is the art of the possible.
If you don't win a general election you have only a moon to howl at, and clouds to shake a tiny fist at.

I am content.
For the present.
Things may change, but.....

No party that wants to get anywhere near power is going to touch "Rejoin EU" for at least another 2 parliaments. Lib Dems tried it in the election before last and got 11 seats and 11% of the vote.

The curious thing is that the only winner in the carnage seems to be Reform. Convincing those voters that the EU is where we want to be is the challenge. I'm not suggesting Reform is the answer but it is now the home of the traditional working Labour voter who cares little for Europe. Until you tackle that, we remain as we are.

Politics is all about hearts and minds. You won't win many on a pro EU ticket for a while.
