Public transport in this country is a national disgrace. A big part of the issue is that inter city train companies are allowed to use dynamic pricing, this practice should be stopped, there is no justification in it apart from pure profit/greed.

I don't count airlines as public transport.
Good to see LNER's 'Trial' getting rid of off peak and introducing nonsense flex fares, has really brought down the price of train travel for everyone looking to travel with 3 weeks advance notice...

Who's flying up????
Those cheap Easyjet flights for a weekend away have shot up to £180 via Belfast.
Other options based on out Friday back Monday.
Easyjet Gatwick to Edinburgh £70 rtn Train Edinburgh to Newcastle £50 rtn (cheaper options but tight schedule)
Train Brighton to Newcastle £163 rtn (Trainline)
Drive 350 miles 6.5 hours.
Hotels
Premier Inn is £214
It was easier and cheaper to get to Amsterdam!
This is just ridiculous. Travelling in this country is just utter BS

There's a 1983 vibe about this. We beat Newcastle at their place on the way to Wembley, and Norwich (admittedly at The Goldstone and we didn't play Chelsea, but it's all shaping up otherwise. Are Sheffield Wednesday still in it?).
All set up for United in the final...

I would add to the originating comments here (yes Jack its good to see prices lowering) that the pricing structure is over complicated and the fact you can break up journeys buy multiple tickets etc and pay less is just an example of how broken the system is. The railways need government intervention and I cant see the looney tunes liebour government stepping up (Not that others in past have either). Its remarkable so many football fans find ways and struggle doing so to see their teams play away. We have a remarkable away following. I applaud you all. I believe we are in the top 5 in PL maybe someone knows the stats here better than me?

Massively sarcastic in my original comment here btw. The prices are a disgrace. Labour are actually making good progress on this, but it isn't in the news much!

Opponents - fine, travel/accommodation - fine, view - shite, appalling, disgusting.

Most likely shan't bother, have a bit of a points cushion so no big deal.

Totally agree.
As a benchmark, used trains in Spain last November.
If you went Seville-Madrid intercity with reserved seats, WiFi, vending etc on 1 March this year it's around £20. Seriously.
thats 550km.

Has anyone used Seagulls Travel to Newcastle? We have use them before but not as far as Newcastle. How long does it take? Probably wont be cheap either.

The BBC TV graphic after the draw said ties will be played between 28th February and 3rd March.
Well, that’s technically correct I guess as only the 1 & 2 are between those dates, but an odd way to describe it

Ties in the fifth round will be staged across the weekend of Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 March, with the full schedule and broadcast details to be confirmed in due course following discussions with clubs, broadcast partners and local authorities.
