I don’t mind admitting that I was one of those who felt this would be a disappointing evening. I think one of the enjoyable reflections for me though, aside from being proved wrong, was how much more grumpy and glum outside the ground the Chelsea fans were after the game compared to us in Nottingham last weekend. Entitlement and an assumed easy win is quite something.

I like the way we competed against the ball. Chelsea were pedestrian and missing the pace and presence of Jackson but we were compact. We should have been compact last week! Baleba is so important to us. Gomez looked direct and strong which is good.

Still don't think we have a way of paying that gets the ball from Bart to a goal scoring chance but maybe we were spoilt with Potter and De Zerbi who were brilliant at this and we're missing Pascal in this department. It all seems off the cuff. When you've got Georginho and Mitoma doing well it's happy days though.

I was in two minds about going to this but glad I did: that was a decent performance. Just got home in time to watch MotD, looking forward to seeing it again

Yes - this is our weak area. I said earlier that when Chelsea got the ball in midfield, their front players bombed forward expecting a through / over the top ball. Whereas ours hung around waiting for a ball when they had their backs to goal. If we could change this, I think we'd be far scarier to play against.

Rape of Hastings, Sussex
First win against Chelsea in FA Cup since 1933.

Tentative first half by both teams like boxers circling in the ring, both afraid to make the first punch. Awful mishap by Bart put us on the back foot but I thought we were so much improved in the second half with better defending and with Baleba back, much more comfortable in MF than we were at Forest.

I think we made the Chelsea side look quite pedestrian at times with their Potterball possession and tappy, tappy in the final third - Cucu wearing his frustration on his sleeve was hilarious to watch.

I’m looking forward to a repeat win at the Amex next Saturday - don’t care how we do it tbh.
I believe 1933 was the season the Albion club secretary forgot to enter us into the FA Cup too and the qualifying rounds against Hastings, Worthing et al were endured.
