I think - on the quick looks we got on TV - that Laird (no.2) was in an off-side position for that equaliser? Penny to a pound bloody VAR would have spent three minutes trying to convince themselves that they should disallow it because he was deemed interfering with play. He wasn't of course - the GK wasn't going to get near that regardless of where Laird was standing.

Looked again during the pundits' analysis - practically standing on the GK's foot! Interfering with play, no way, but reckon VAR would have made sure they disallowed it.

The only team to win at home in the cup today is Preston North End

Every other home team has lost (pending completion of the game at St Andrews)

No, they’re 2 separate things completely.
Yes I know they are FFS! My question was, is there some silly rule that you can't use goal line technology (for this match) if you don't have VAR (which of course we don't have for the 4th. round of the FA Cup - quite rightly IMHO).

Now then - haven't been watching the game. But are we saying that VAR would probably have ruled out one goal for each side? In which case 2-2 sounds more fun than 1-1, so - 'a good thing'?

If Manchester can support two teams with grounds of that sort of size - and Liverpool can when Everton move in to their new stadium - than Birmingham can; it's bigger than either of them!
And if you take into account the number of people in Birmingham that really don't like the Villa, and count them all as Blues fans, they've probably got more fans than Villa!
Can you honestly see them filling a stadium of 60k? Even if they were in the Prem, maybe 40k. I mean, a 60k stadium is up there with the biggest in the country.

Poor comparison. Merseyside has had unparalleled success. Bham might fill 40k, but 60k seems misjudged.

Why the FFS? You worded your question badly and I was trying to be helpful.

Better chance than, say, either of the Sheffield clubs. Or Everton. But yeh, 60K is probably a bit of kite flying - 50K maybe more realistic.

Question was, 'Is there a rule?' - i.e. is it allowed to have one without the other, not whether it was possible to have one without the other. Oh well, have a good evening. Enjoy the match - it's pretty good so far, no?

This Birmingham team are a bunch of out of control thugs.
Yeah I guess we loved it when we had Cullip/Oatway/Carpenter etc playing against higher opposition but I never really liked the 'they don't like it up 'em' Jack Charlton style of football.
