Bit of lateral thinking here. Put a small platform on the rusting remains of the pier and a zip line from the top of the i360. Probably wouldn't make money but would be fun!
Probably wouldn't go down too well with the guys that run the existing zip line operation to the east of the Palace Pier. We don't want any more mystery fires now, do we

*edit* there is no suggestion etc etc

The £51m debt is about to be written off, the only way to get a buyer. BHCC meeting this evening.

Anyone here see BBC1 SE News just then? Live from outside the Town Hall the Labour Party spokesmen emphatically blamed the £51m loss on the former Green Party administration. He said Labour had only backed the plans up to 2014 where private sector finance would’ve paid for it.

A total shit show. £51millon is one hell of a ‘write off’, what could that kind of money have done for various projects for the underprivileged in the City?

But how would get back. It's a cold swim.

A friend who works for the council, often with the underprivileged in the city, has been informally told they might need to start buying their own stationery to bring in just to start with because what’s used might not have budget to replace it. It’s crazy. Just like teachers who’ll often buy things for lessons it’s the lowest paid subsidising their jobs because of mismanagement at the top.

There’s our £50 million back.

A buyer has been found for the i360 viewing pod in Brighton.

Hospitality group Nightcap Limited, which runs 46 venues in England and Wales, has taken on the remaining 115-year lease of the i360 for an as-yet undisclosed fee.

Sarah Willingham, founder and CEO of Nightcap, said: "We couldn't be happier to welcome the i360 to the Nightcap family."

It'll be buy a ticket and a bottle of prosecco which you can't take off the i360, so chug it down during your 15 minute ride. Maybe with a different theme during the day-time installation of your 15 minutes of fame.

Not going to have the FTSE 100 lining up to take over.

Can't imagine any company that isn't shit touching it with a bargepole and I'm fairly certain the 'undisclosed sum' will be a peppercorn amount for the purpose of legal agreement.

I suppose it is better that *someone* runs it rather than it just sitting there as a decaying structure.
Yes.

Whether you were one of the dozens on here who showed the extraordinary foresight to say this project would fail and are creaming themselves to remind us all that they were right, the city of Brighton has had a massive punt on this working out. It's terrible for the city and expensive if it's just decaying.

The fact that someone has taken it on is brilliant news for Brighton
