Based on numbers and success outside Greece :

1. Nikos Machlas. 1997/98 European Golden Shoe and Top Scorer in Holland 34 goals in 32 games. Later transfered to Ajax with a carreer of 44 goals and 16 assists in 93 games.
2. Theofanis Gekas. 2006/2007 Top Scorer in Bundesliga with Bochum
3. Nikolas Samaras (might be familiar to some as he signed in 2006 with Man.City, but he best carreer days were at Scotland and Celtic)
4. Most recent one. Vangelis Pavlidis, Top Scorer in Holland last year, transfered to Benfica for 18M, Scored a Hattrick against Barcelona in C.L a few days ago

What about Angelos Charisteas? He was quite well known at start of the century and had a solid career in BL and Eredivisie. But yeah, he had a bigger impact for NT (especially Euro 2004) than in club football so that's maybe why I remember him more than the first three guys you've mentioned. Pavlidis is still fresh in my mind as a Barca fan though, lol.

What do you think about Douvikas? Didn't look a bad player from what I've seen but he failed to really establish himself in last 18 months at Celta and now Cesc has brought him to Como for 13m€.

also, fun fact (well, maybe not that fun) - Brighton spend the same money on this kid than all La Liga clubs combined this TW.

Charisteas highlight was definitely Euro 2004. He was never a killer Striker and performed better with the NT than with his clubs. His best years were with Werder and then Holland (Ajax, Feyenord). But his carreer took a downhill when he was around 28-29

Douvikas still has potential, in Holland and his first year at Celta was good. This year not so much. let's see with Como.

There are other promising forwards right now in Greece.

Ioannidis (25) from Panathinaikos had a great year last year, and he is highly skilled (they turned down offers up to 20M last year)
Unfortunately he was injured for a couple of months but now he is back on track :

Olympiakos's wonderboy Kostoulas. He is just 17 and plays first team football (Greek LEague and Europa).
He was part of the U19 team of Olympaikos that won UEfa Youth League last year:

"Unai Emery’s side offered €30m to buy the Greece U21 international immediately in this window, according to the claims. This wasn’t favoured by Tzimas and Nürnberg as they want to continue together until the end of this season.

Brighton have ‘prevailed’ because they have decided to let the player finish this season in Germany.

TMW state they have ‘closed the deal’ by offering the same figures as Fiorentina [€22-23m] plus 15% of a future sale. It’s worth noting Sky earlier reported Brighton agreed to pay €25m."

He really wanted to finish the season with Nürnberg as he believes he can benefit the maximum from Klose
He wanted reassurances for first team football next year.
This was also a breaking point with initial talks with Liverpool considering they also have Jayden Danns with very similar profile to his (imo Tzimas is way more ready than Danns , at this point).

As far as you know, does that mean minutes for our first team or could it mean regular game time out on loan?
From what I read in both german and greek press, regular first team football at Brighton next year.

Regarding his transfer cost, the most accurate amounts are these (in Euro).

Nürnberg had a 18.5M buy OUT (and PAOK could keep a 15% bonus for future transfers)
(Apart from HSV and Hertha IF they promote to Bundesliga 1 , no team in 2nd can pay that)

So Nürnberg was planning to buy and trade.
Brighton paid :
18.5 M to PAOK (buyout through FCN)
3.5 M to Nürnberg for the transfer
and from what I hear : 2.78 M ( +1 M solidarity fee) = 3.78 M to remove the future transfer bonus of 15% to PAOK !
----
25.78M Euro

Got it - assuming Evan will be here next season, that must mean we'll rotate him and Stefanos, though I'm not sure where that leaves Welbeck, whose contract expires in 2026, and it limits Pedro and Georginio to the 10 and winger roles.
I am not familiar with how Brighton plays right now, Tzimas can play both as sole striker f.ex 4-2-3-1 , but he really shines in 3-5-2 (either flat or even better in 3-4-1-2 when Justvan is AM, which is how Nürnberg usually plays), in that case he goes to the left side , he has good vision, quick reactions and can pass as well when he plays with another striker.

Suspect we'll find out in a couple of years.

That sounds about as expected no? Welbeck becomes a bench or injury back up option. Maybe that’ll be his last season. Tzimas & Ferguson rotate the number 9 role. Georginio & Pedro rotate the number 10 role. Ideal scenario for me. Good strength in depth. That may all change if there’s sales, but a good position to aim for.

Suits me - just need Danny to be happy with it as well!

Pedro will be sold this summer. It was always planned for him to be sold on.

I don’t think Joao Pedro will be here next season. Welbeck will but expect he’ll have less game time, even if fit.
