[Albion] When did things last feel this bad?

The feeling of ‘losing the joy’ is not uncommon amongst EPL fans ( by which I mean proper fans of their local club). Above all is the overall match day cost but also the disconnection that inevitably comes with being in a league where the loyalty of supporters becomes a financial irrelevance.
I doubt we will lose a single match going supporter because we lost a game 7-O but I know plenty who are reluctantly going to the Amex less and less because of the transport hassles.
Going to the odd non league game reminds me of everything that I have always loved about football. I probably wouldn’t cope if my Brighton didn’t f*** up on a regular basis and getting stuffed 7-0 makes no difference to my Albion mojo, but I no longer feel, as a lifelong fan, that I or any other Albion fans like me matter to the club.
Went to watch mile oak the other day

Took my flask of hot soup

Went at half time for a coffee in the club

Some nice passing moves… some outrageous diving and refereeing decisions

Some bloke arranging a wedding evening band on his phone stood next to me.

As it should be

MFIS.

I totally understand this but I love being a fan of the club and do feel that we matter- having supported it for 52 years, especially with Tony Bloom ulimately in charge. i go to more away games now than i did 10 years ago (can luckily afford it, don't have young kids anymore) which helps i think , also go to non league sometimes for the reasons you argue (but they are obviously very differrent), and trains have never got in the way for me even though i travel from mid sussex. Even though occasionally its an arse. My group of fans that i go with - about 6-7 of a similar age / older and also their their now grown up kids - feel likewise (i think !) . Really do Love Brighton being in the Premier League and its been great over the last 8 seasons. So i think joy is not lost although i struggled at 2.45pm yesterday afternoon for a bit !!

We lost three points
So did City, Villa, United, Brentford, Newcastle and Leicester…
We maintain 10th
United slip to 13th

See what next week brings…
But we picked up 2 more injuries , our manager showed little if any respect to the travelling supporters , and i just read that that the bank of England have just bid 45m euros for Facu - a player we desperately need at the moment and who never should have gone out on loan in the first place , and could well lose because Fab isn`t a fan .

Actually, it’s supposedly Chelsea and Tottenham who are interested, and who ever said Fabian didn’t rate Buonanotte? His loan was going very well for everyone involved until Ruud froze him out - he’s the only manager to have mistreated Facundo as far as I know.

I see what your saying, but then, why change your expectations? I just want to stay up every year and everything else is a wonderful bonus. My mojo rarely drops as a result. Some people have said top 10 is their expectation, if so we are meeting that, but for me its more of a target than an expectation. But if your expectations have become to get in the top 6 at the start of the season, and stay there all year, winning every game against a lower table team, well we might do it occasionally but more often than not we won't. So you are frequently miserable. Just can't see how that's a fun place to be.
I remember saying similar to a Man U friend just a few years into Withdean , i asked him if he was bored knowing they would win every week , and that supporting The Albion and not knowing what league we would be in was so much more fun and i stand by that .

But we are not at Withdean anymore , Man U don`t win every game and Tony has stated that where we need to be now is aiming to be consistently a top 10 club . If we get beat by a better team on the day , as frustrating as that is that`s just life , but we have a decent squad and imo a not so decent manager so it`s not just frustrating it`s bloody painful .

Not life or death or anything so dramatic , but annoying enough for people to vent it on a football forum

Sorry my poor effort at calling Chelsea the bank of England :lolol:

The fact that we have been through this terrible terrible time will make the next time we are in Europe so much sweeter.

As Ronan Keating said. 'Life is a rollercoaster and your just got to ride it.'

The way people on here carry on you would think we were sitting bottom of the league. Get a grip people.

That'll be me. And, yes, I did have a laugh about it with a Leeds supporting friend. The irony being that they won 7-0 (biggest result in nearly 50 years) and the fact that, as much as I love the Albion, I don't let results upset me. Life has far more important things to get into a stew over. Whether Albion lose 7-0 or won 7-0 I still feel the same about their place in my life. And in the end, it's just twenty two blokes kicking a bag of air around a patch of grass. I love it, but I'm not going to let it make me unhappy. Football for me is more about the what happens off the pitch, the friendships I have made, the great days out. Places like NSC where a lot of good folk gather. Victories and success are a bonus. Defeats and absolute tonkings, never mind, it happens.

Palace doing the double over us ? Well, I'd rather they didn't. If it happens  The sun will still rise in the morning, the birds will sing, and it won't cost me my life.
Spot on, if I felt like some people feel on here right now I would give it up.

Back in the day we used to go to the pub on a Saturday afternoon and have a few beers watching the football results coming in. One lad wasa Derby fan who should get upset and angry everytime they lost and go home. Apart from the fact he was sat with us Brighton fans who would celebrate a point at that time we would also be going out later for a big night.

No way would I let football get in the way of life like that. You win some you lose some and you can't have one without the other.

There’s probably nothing in your post that’s factually accurate

If we’d lost 1-0 we would have still lost 3 points, the way people are going on, you’d think that we had lost 7 points!

The hammering to our goal difference could well cost us a place at the end of the season, though.

Edit: I see Palace's GD is now one better than ours. Might stick a bet on them finishing level on points with us but ahead on GD. Suspect that might even be too optimistic though.

Things don't feel bad. Lol.

The last time they did feel really bad was under Hyypia vs Millwall at the Amex.
