It appears that there's a bit of a history during Trump"s last administration of the US claiming to have killed terrorists in Somalia while locals are claiming only civilians were killed. In February 2020 a telecom worker was allegedly killed after claims by the US of having killed terrorists and then in March 2020 it was a minibus full of civilians with the victims' family claiming the US were lying about having killed terrorists.....

So Spence doesn't read anything written by the BBC or any other source he considers left wing, because they got something wrong and then apologised. Given that he doesn't read anything they write, it's impressive he saw the mistake.

However, it seems that the average Joe knew he was a racist idiot but wanted a few more bucks in their pocket this time (which is the essence of being American) so there was certainly a holding of the nose whilst they ticked his box.
Let’s see how this trade war plays out with China, Canada and Mexico. I’ve a suspicion that Trump wants what he can’t get; a reduction in prices for consumers but greater paid jobs (especially in manufacturing) for average Joes. But I’ve got a feeling that prices in America are about to start rising. He is a bull in a China shop!
It surely won’t be long before he turns his gaze to us. I suspect he’ll want us to sign a trade deal that will give the green light to us importing the sort of shit they make in that out-of-control country such as antibiotic meat, GM foods, US milk with double the level of somatic cells (pus), unsafe baby food, cars that are too big for our roads and drives and all American Cornish pasties and Stilton.
If he does not make average Joe richer, then there really is little point to his presidency for them unless he can somehow wrangle peace in Ukraine (which could involve selling that country out).

I am not sure how Trump squares more well paid jobs in the US with trying to sack 3 million Federal Workers? 3 million extra unemployed could well drop wages due to the old formula of Supply and Demand.
I suppose everyone expected a skip fire and boy have they got one.
