Broadly I agree, I just want see more as you can see the talent is there.
The chap who stands next to me asked me this evening, can you really say that any of our new summer signings have been brilliant thus far? We’ve seen flashes from lots of them but it’s been largely inconsistent from most. If pushed I’d probably pick Georginio as our most consistent of the summer signings.
Correct. On the plus side, they have all, genuinely shown that they have something good about them. In the old days you just wouldn't have to prove yourself in 3 months.

I genuinely think we'll have some crackers on our hands. And we'll make a profit on most / the others.

I'm sticking to my 'Gruda being the pick' shout, even if he's not totally showing it now.

He came off at HT. That says it all.
He needs time to regain fitness, build his confidence and he desperately needs 6 months or so of serious gym work but it will come.

And yet he looked knackered tonight event though he only played 45 minutes.

With Gomez coming in - not to mention talk of Yalcouye being recalled from Sturm Graz - will we have room for all six of our newbies in the second half of the season? Maybe we'll loan out one or two to acclimatise to playing in England elsewhere for half a season - O'Riley maybe? Or Gruda perhaps?
Yalcouye definitely not coming back this month per Naylor.

I think Matt will be a slow burner for us. You can see he is a very intelligent player and has a fantastic left foot.
On the other side of the coin though, his physicality is poor and he has no pace whatsoever.
He needs to toughen up (as do some others) but I hope he is given time to come good.

Chap who stands next to you should ponder the injuries to the players he’s questioning

If Gomez ever appears today was the day should have started

He hit the best free kick we’ve produced in months, mostly in that it was actually on target

Is it me or has Matt been a real disappointment so far, given the hype at Celtic and size of fee. Yes he's had a difficult start with the injury against Crawley but it's now been a few months of being fit.

At the moment I'd take Billy Gilmour all day in CM over O'Riley
I don't know why (because I'd never seen him play) but I was very excited to see what O'Riley would bring this season. (Probably based upon the size of the fee and maybe what others on here had said about him). That's why I was really angered by that horrible challenge, six minutes into his debut. But apart from his finish against City, I have to say I've been hugely disappointed up to this point in time.

Am I alone in thinking he seems massively underwhelming?

He seems to play like kids do - chasing the ball and always wanting to score; completely ignoring the shape and tactics.

Loved his goal vs City for the payback of effort after the Crawley carthorse broke him, but since then he looks an overexcited amateur.

Probably (hopefully) just you.

We haven't seen much of him, since he has been recovering from that unfortunate injury - but he has definitely shown glimmers of quality and intelligence.

It's just too early to judge.

Not sure about the intelligence bit, when he did start showed zero positional discipline and basically shut down others space.

Disappointing so far, but relatively early days, set-piece wise, he’s above everyone else in the squad (IMO).

IMO he needs time. It was a shocking injury and I think it shook him.
If there's stuff going on behind the scenes, that can also disrupt some players even if they're not directly involved.
He needs to play a lot more.
Shocking injury and then Ayari and Baleba have formed a decent partnership, plus we have had choices in more forward positions.

Takes players time who haven’t played in the PL before to settle, often a year, that was certainly the case with WBG.

SSN reporting that O'Riley has covered the third-most distance in the PL this season, 10.84 km to Lucas Bergvall's 10.87 km and Carlos Soler's 10.86 km. We were of course linked with Soler before his loan move to West Ham. https://www.skysports.com/football/...-and-gossip-live-updates-goals-and-highlights
