I thought he'd done enough to warrant an extension tbh.
Particularly with our shortage of FB at the moment.

I'm sure we want him to sign an extension, but if he doesn't want to then we either take what we can now, or let him walk away in the summer.

£1.5m doesn't feel like a lot to "lose" in order to keep him here for the rest of the season, although there may be a lumpy sell-on as well.

£1.5m is an absolute steal.

He's SO underrated. Always puts in a good performance for us.

He is such an attacking threat - although let down by his less than average defensive qualities.

I guess they gave us Veltman for £900k, so we could just be doing them a favour.

I'd let him leave on a free in the summer if those were the options, £1.5m won't do much for us but having Tariq around for another half a season will

I agree. Surely there is someone else coming into replace him or perhaps Hinsh is the back-up to Velts? It seems Kadıoğlu won’t be ready for some time to help out in that position.

Gutted if this happens. Watched Tariq at Villa Park just before Christmas. Best player on the pitch that day and a superb goal. Terrific pro.. only let down by the injuries.
Who will ever forget the Marseille away performance as well.

In addition. the '...star man.." chant loss would be a blow to an already underwhelmingly un-creative BHA chant back-catalogue. Shame.

We must be signing someone or this move makes no sense at all and weakens us massively.

At the moment we don't appear to have any fit left backs. Veltman and Lamptey switched that role against Everton. If Lamptey goes we've got Hinsh and Veltman as full back cover and one of those is a midfielder. Ferdi will be very unlikely to be back this season and Pervis could be one of those short term 3 month injuries we seem to suffer.

I'd rather keep Lamptey and lose him for nothing in the summer as £1.5m is nothing in PL money terms. This could have the knock on effect of leaving an already fragile defence even weaker and cost us more in league positions and prize money.

I’d like to keep him but want a better version of him. I never feel entirely safe when he’s playing and watch in fear of him receiving a crunching tackle. Still think of him as an attacking over/underlapping RB but too small to be a PL defender in a team with European ambitions.

Happy to be proved wrong but if he doesn’t want to be here there’s no point in keeping him.
