I don’t think the majority of players want to play in Saudi in their prime years even if the salary will be considerably more.

If the offer is increased to nearer £100m that becomes harder for the club to not seriously consider given Mitomas age . However if the player doesn’t want to go then that’s the end of it - he doesn’t go. Especially a player so highly regarded at the club. If the offer was from Real Madrid, possibly a different outcome.
He earns £1m a year with us.
How much more money do people need for it to be Life changing?
For the club on the other hand, a £60m or more profit with Adingra ready to step in might be tempting

I remember reading an interview with Mitoma somewhere not long after he broke into the team. Unfortunately I can't remember where it was. But in it, he said that he was motivated by trying to become the best player he could possibly be and that meant testing himself against the highest-level opponents possible.

Now, if that was true and not just media guff, then there's no way he'd go there at this stage of his career.

I think we may well lose him in the summer, but if we do, it'll be because a Champions League club has come in for him. That's really the only step-up he has left.
Sounds like his doesn’t want to leave. Much like Mac we’d have been constantly saying we won’t get in the way of the right move. But that will have to be right for the player. This isn’t the one.

Will be hard to turn down £90m if he wants to go

As an aside, Trossard will be fuming about this if true, I imagine a move like this for the incredible sulk would be right up his street

Losing him would be a massive blow. Incredible player and just a very likeable pro. I'm always so proud when people from another country want to follow my club, so this would be a big loss.

Agree with those saying £90m would do it

It was an answer to some soft question like "why did you want to play in the Premier League" that he could have answered with the standard "best league in the world" spiel. I felt his answer was very sincere at the time, which is why it stuck in my head.

But then, we are talking about amounts of money that are absolutely insane even from the perspective of a Premier League footballer.

I think he’ll have ambitions to play for a major Premier League club before cashing in, in Saudi.
Sky stating that ‘Brighton don’t want to sell, this window’ …. Suggests we won’t stand in his way in the future, which isn’t surprising.

Putting in a bid of £54m, and then after thats rejected coming back with a bid of £90m is just a nuts way to splash money around. Thats a big jump. IF we were to sanction a sale i'd be saying well lets see how far we can push them. £100m? £120m?
