Milner named as a sub. Glad he is back post op.
Saw him outside the changing rooms....

Brightons 4th round tie against Championship side Durham is on the clubs YouTube channel

Several changes to the team from the last league game, but we should have enough to beat Durham despite them being near the top of the Championship. We're 1-0 up after 5 mins, and have just been awarded a penalty

After successfully making up Fran Kirby rumours I’m going to start the Chloe Kelly ones to help get her in on loan today 😄👍
I did smile last night when I saw that BBC Sport's Emma Sanders had posted about WSL deadline day in the middle of 18 Champions League games.

Talk about swimming against the tide...

Anyway, job well done last night for Albion Women - poles apart in quality as one might expect and game effectively over as a contest by half time.

No reason why they can't win at Villa in R5. And should they do that, there's a chance of getting the winner of Portsmouth/Sunderland in the QF.

Relieved that the game was switched from Crawley. Clearly pitch issues of 3-4 weeks ago remain - Albion Women deserve a more reliable setup.

With the loss of Kirby, another forward like Kelly should take the pressure off the defence which has started to creak after a solid start to the season.

and Keira Walsh 🙄
Yes, even more so now. They've strengthened their stranglehold domestically. No FFP in the women's game for now, so they've taken their opportunity.

This season's WSL title is as good as won already - it's all about winning the Champions League for Chelsea now.

Of course, it's up to other clubs to try and keep pace...if there's the appetite and desire within the affiliated clubs to do so.

Sadly it doesn't look like there is on the same scale, so the league might start to resemble La Liga Femenina where Barcelona have no competition.

They're currently 11 points clear at the top of the table. Played 16, Won 16, Goals For 71, Goals Against 7, Goal Difference +64,

Neither healthy nor conducive to growing the women's game within a competitive league structure.

"In the hours leading up to Thursday's 23:00 GMT deadline, City received offers from WSL clubs Brighton and Manchester United which were not accepted.
Sources at the club say one of those offers did not include an agreement to pay Kelly's wages until the end of the season.
Arsenal's offer came in late on Thursday and was accepted by City, with both parties keen to reach a resolution."

Not that it matters now with the window closed, but let's hope that the club referred to wasn't the Albion.

Good news...

Brighton have signed midfielder Nadine Noordam from Ajax on a permanent transfer.

The 26-year-old, who was under contract with Ajax until June, completed the move on deadline day.

She made 105 appearances for the Dutch club in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and represented her country from under-15 to under-23 age groups.

A quiet transfer window with Nadine Noordam and Caitlin Hayes coming in, and two goalies going out on loan. Hopefully the new players will bolster the team and turn around the performances.
