More action (or bench-warming) tonight -
Championship - Portsmouth (O'Mahony still injured) vs. 'Wall.
League 1 -
Northampton (Chouchane missing from the match day squad) away to Bolton;
Blackpool (Offiah starts at RB) away at Lincoln;
Crawley (new boy Doyle starts off on the bench) away to Mansfield.
League 2
-
Grimsby (Barrington hasn't made the match day squad) at home to Gillingham;
MK Dons (McGill still hasn't regained his place - on the bench) at home to Harrogate.
Scottish Challenge Cup -
Queen's Park (Ben Jackson straight in at CH) home to East Kilbride.

Haven't heard of any injuries to Chouchane and Barrington - does their absence from the squads have any significance?
Doyle comes on for the last ten minutes; Crawley immediately take the lead!
(No suggestion that he had any direct input to it - but it's a good omen!)

Young Ben Jackson played the whole 90 in QP's 2-2 draw (Not that great - they were playing at home to a team 3 divisions below them!)

East Kilbride are nearer lower half league 1 level in Scotland but with the playoffs still haven't managed that final step up to the league, looking good so far this season though. They knocked out Championship side Ayr United in the last round so would say it is a better level introduction for Jackson than it initially seemed. Full time fitness likely showing though as 6-2 now to Queen's Park with 5 to go. Jackson off after 113 mins

Ha! You had me there - I didn't realise there was extra time! He's just been subbed off I see - still, 113 minutes is a good start!

Ha, I was impressed the Scottish Challenge Cup was on your radar tonight...would be nice if Jackson faces Livingston in the final if they beat Dunfermline in the other semi final next week.

Final games of the first phase or the Champions League all kick off at 8 o'clock tonight - so here's to all the Brighton players who have made it to the CL before their parent club!
Abdallah Sima's Stade Brest face the awesome task of entertaining Real Madrid - Sima on the bench.
Ibrahim Osman's Feyenoord travel to Lille - Osman on the bench.
Sturm Graz are at home to RB Leipzig (Scherpen and Yalcouye straight into the thick of it!)

Brest and Feyenoord are guaranteed through to the next round of matches - and could possibly qualify in the top 8, if results fall right for them.
Sturm Graz, not so much! (they're out whatever they do). :(
Good luck to all!

Sima and Osman both came on and had some decent minutes - probably wish they hadn't - both on the wrong end of a bit of a thrashing! A bit of (ultimately irrelevant) joy for Scherpen and Yalcouye though; clean sheet and a 1-0 win.

Sima and Osman, our only loanees still in the Champions League, will face PSG and Milan, respectively, in the playoffs. Frustrating draw for Brest but should be memorable for Osman (and Moder!)

Turning away from the misery at the City Ground, time to look with a little more hope to see how our lads out on loan (the lucky ones?) are doing today.
Premier League -
Buonanotte - on the bench;
Enciso - starts for Ipswich Town - let's hope he destroys the Stains!
The Championship -
O'Mahony - still not fit enough to be in the squad;
Sarmiento - starts;
Beadle - starts;
Moran - bench.
League 1 -
Offiah - starts;
Chouchane - not in matchday squad;
Doyle - bench.
League 2 -
McGill - regains his place in goal for MK Dons;
Barrington - not in matchday squad.
Scottish Championship -
Ben Jackson - on the bench for his new club, Queen's Park.

Abdallah Sima's Stade Brest take on PSG later.

Neither Chouchane's or Barrington's loans have gone particularly well - particularly Barrington's. Both missing form their respective matchday squads. Significant?

Also interesting times for some of the older U21s who may have been expecting loans this season - Samuels and Peupion have already gone off to pastures new, permanently, and McConville looks to be attached to the first team squad now. So what about Ed Turns - one and a half seasons of senior football experience behind him already - loan or sell off? Duffus? Slater? Who else might be going on loan?

Jackson stayed on the bench in the 2-1 defeat to Airdrieonians. Former Albion youngster Ben Wilson scored both goals for Airdrieonians.
