I’m not sure that’s entirely true. Connolly’s performance was good but nowhere near Enciso’s against Wolves. He absolutely ran the game and I was convinced on the way home that he was going to turn into our next world class talent.

Who knows what would have happened if he hadn’t got injured in training the following week, but I think the people writing him off are forgetting just how good he was at the start of last season and the end of 2022/23.

As we’re seeing with Ferguson, young players are often inconsistent. Enciso was also affected by the injury. Let’s hope he can rediscover his form with Ipswich.

I stand by my other points. He’s held to a much higher standard than many of our other youngsters and I find it really strange.

I wonder if it's more that he is demanding more game time without backing it up, when compared to Hinsh or Baleba etc I would have him down the order a little.

A decent player, in my eyes he is ahead of Sarmiento but behind Buonanotte in terms of effectiveness.

That's the last we've seen of Enciso in a Brighton shirt. Whether you rate him highly or not, clearly Hurzeler doesn't rate him as high as JP, Rutter, Welbeck, Mitoma or O'Riley, and Enciso isn't willing to sign a new contract.

This is a shop window loan, simple as that. Let's hope he performs and the club can pocket the £40m+ that they're hoping for.

I’m kind of sad about it, last few season we had a number of players come in that we got excited about and Julio looked like being really good for us.

Most of them seem to have disappeared tbh, it’s pretty disappointing.

Yeah probably not much in it, although personally I feel Buonanotte got into a groove where he was affecting games more consistently than Enciso, who is decorative, but in terms of end product I feel a bit lacking.

FH isn’t judging players just on end product. He wants players to commit to intensive training sessions and to defend from the front in matches. You can see that the players on our team sheet absolutely buy into this now. Minteh and Mitoma acted as wingbacks for much of the game against Utd and Joao Pedro, Danny and Georginio are part of this collective defending mindset. Subs are meant to raise that intensity.
FH commented on Enciso’s change of mindset a few weeks ago and Enciso had a short run of starting games as well as the subs appearances. But I think that Enciso and his agent had already decided he wasn’t glong to get enough of a starring/starting role and this was unlikely to change with the new signings.

Let's simplify things and accept he isn't really competing for a winger position, he is trying to get a 10 spot (there are two per game since they almost always get subbed). Wolves era Julio would, I believe, be up there with Pedro and Rutter, sadly, current Julio isn't.

I don't blame anyone for this. It would be mad of Fab to drop either of them just to give Julio more game time to get back to his best. He could well be absolutely killing it in training, however the others are doing the business on the pitch and no doubt also train to a high standard anyway.

It is mainly bad luck. His injury, an increase in rival attacking players and a change in manager. Compare this to Ayari who has had the reverse luck of a lack of injury, a raft of injuries to his midfield rivals and a change in manager.

Maybe, but what if Pedro/Mitoma/Rutter (or maybe two of the three) get sold for big money, Welbeck goes back to MUFC and the so-far 'unproven-at-this-level' O'Riley doesn't make the grade? Then Enciso could be a SHOE in to play a big part of the squad next season.

Or he could just naff off in the summer.
