Well obviously I disagree with this/your assessment

Maybe if you can be arsed read his book for a different perspective

I understand this is a divisive subject so I'm going to duck out

Someone else arsed to read his book to find out more about this divisive subject.

My take is a man completely and utterly obsessed with an important subject, which has little to do with him or affects him on a daily basis.

The book really needs a companion where you can review his behavior on social media over the last few years for a much needed bit of balance. I'm not sure history will judge him that well, he has behaved appalling and gone about his beliefs completely the wrong way.

Probably !
I tend to agree with the Ricky Gervais school of thought as per his description of Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner when it comes to sexes , whatever you want to be ..be , but what you are is non-negotiable .

Appreciate the concern (y)

No worries.

Out of interest do you have much personal experience with gender dysphoria?

I suggest you read his book to find out

His comedy career was halted, as was Father Ted the Musical

The reason you see him is through his activism

Fortunately he is now writing comedy again in America
Linehan will tell you, in his many sympathetic interviews in right wing media, that 'Father Ted - the Musical' was halted because of him being 'cancelled'. Others are silent on the issue, perhaps for fear of further provoking his ire, but if pushed, may argue that he was offered a large amount of money to step away from the project because of how impossible he had become to work with: going on about his obsession to colleagues who may have different views and continually trolling and writing vile things on social media about people who didn't agree with him. One repeated lovely habit of poor persecuted Graham was to call people who disagree with him, most famously David Tennant, 'groomers'. Only he can explain what he meant by this, but my understanding of the term is connected to child sexual abuse. Can't understand why people weren't falling over themselves to work with him. He seems a joy.

He got thrown off Twitter before Musk bought it and chose to let all the poison seep out. That wasn't for his views, but for 'Repeated violations of our rules against hateful conduct and platform manipulation'. He's currently being sued for defamation: https://www.doughtystreet.co.uk/new...has handed,LGBT and women's rights campaigner.

He's gone to America with Andrew Doyle formerly of GB News to write with the terrible hack Rob Schneider, who is a bit shall we say 'Trumpy'? My guess is that 'writing comedy' may be a very loose term. The only funny thing Schneider's ever been involved in was being the target of a South Park parody.

Yes. Sex is chromosomes. Gender is hormones and the way the brain works.

The whole 'debate' about sex and gender and hairy-bollocked brickies in a dress in the Ladies' Toilet, flashing at Our Children, is completely f***ing idiotic.

It is just a opportunity for the 'anti-woke' to engage in a bit more bullying.
The ****s.
That`s a very big subject to dismiss so simply as "anti-woke" bullying , and not a chance I would want to take with any of the ladies in my family , as for "f***ing idiotic" just read the papers they`re full of f***ing idiotic acts that end in hurt , very often unnecessary .

If you put aside your dislike for what you consider the "right" and take an honest look at what is being created with this "I Identify as - fill in the blanks - " it makes stuff all difference to the sex of the Ford Escort or Paving slab or whatever they want to be tomorrow . But it is destroying the sanity of not just a single conversation but the entire country .

Trump whatever any of us think of him is President of the free world , so what if he makes a little boo boo about "sexes" , if anyone is genuinely upset by that then they have their priorities all to F*** imo ................afterall the guy has his finger on the button ! .

But hey you freak out over something important like a typo.........

Yes, but it's been built up by the "right" (yep) as an issue affecting us all and the future of humanity.

..and they've blamed that on the "left", because that's all they do.

I live in London and exist in those sort of circles that many (possibly yourself) think are obsessed by these issues.

We aren't. That's them.

Married for 40 years to a wonderful lady so no , but yes to the unhappy -low - depressed bit going on 35 years now , so long it is normal almost . As we speak i am wearing a 24hr heart monitor , 3rd time in a few years , bloody thing jumps about a lot so yes a little dysphoric . Wasn`t sure whether to print this but there will be others in the same boat so why not if it can help .

Reading between the lines (If i am wrong - apologies) i have absolutely no problems with any ones life choices , i had a pint or three with a gay friend among others today , he has a better sense of humour than a lot on here - funnily enough he is the manager so that might make a few of my detractors stop and reassess for a minute , but again Cheers .

I don`t know that any of us can put the blame on the other , otherwise it becomes a kiddies pointing game and there is plenty of blame to go round . Just plain common sense wherever and whichever direction it comes from and enough sensible heads to remember the days before bloody LEFT/RIGHT were a thing .

But the issue has become politicized by the right, that is very very clear. The core "argument" was mainly one within left wing feminist circles.

It affects a very small minority of the population and I'm not sure "plain common sense" applies to a very complex issue that neither of us know very much about.

It's the right that have distilled these issues to that level. They even appointed a minister for it.

You are okay with life choices but at the same time, according to your Ricky Gervais quote are non negotiable on what people are.

From what I can see the only real assertion you have made is that sex is binary. Noone really disagrees with this tries to argue otherwise.

My question about gender dysphoria was about an interest in anyone who has experience of it still holding such firm and unwavering beliefs.

I was also trying to guage your understanding of it and wondered if any exposure to it had caused you to understand it more fully.

Hopefully if you do encounter it with people close to you you can muster similar empathy and compassion you show your boss. This didn't come across in your posts on here but hopefully that was the beer talking.

Perhaps a good start would be to approach this as a people thing rather than a political one.

As Clapham gull suggests there are a bunch of people who wish to make this a political discussion without considering those who live with in that world.

To my mind those people are absolute ****s.
