Has anyone else seen this film?

Went with my wife just before Christmas, the first time we have been to the cinema, as a couple, since we got together 17 years ago!!!

What a brilliant film... I know there will be those who don't like Williams, as he can be more than a bit of an arse. To be fair, having watched the film (spoiler alert), Williams is one of those who think he IS a tw@t...

The visuals are fantastic and the monkey, playing Williams, is so believable.

There is also probably plenty of artistic licence at play, for dramatic effect, but I don't think it has been to overdone.

Thoughts anyone?

Not seen it but the idea is perfect.
He is amazingly talented but there is something about his face, his desperation to please, that I find off-putting.
By masking it in the way they have done, I would imagine the effect is transformative.
Unfortunately I generally can't do cinema (it triggers anxiety) unless it is a small room, like those in Ashford.
But I'll watch on the telly no doubt.

Indeed. Another troubled man.

But exceptionally talented.

I think I'd enjoy a Norman Wisdom film if his face was CGId to a monkey's.
As it happens his bathos and pathos have me reaching for the off button before the announcer has finished saying 'Wis'.

The monkey idea makes sense of his song Me and My Monkey - he obviously sees his bad side and the demons that haunt him in that form.

As has been demonstrated here, some people won't like it watch it BECAUSE it is Williams - if you can put prejudice and hatred aside though it really is a very good film, with a half decent soundtrack too!

I went with my daughter on NYE. I loved it.

I had been waiting for 2 years to see it as my daughter was on the team at WETA FX that brought the monkey to life, and had been telling me all about it for that time.
They and she should be very proud of what they achieved. I understand it may be up for an Oscar nomination shortly for visuals...

Yep seen it and loved it.

How they found a monkey that looked so much like him and trained him to do all that stuff is amazing!

I think it was Martin Keown.

I was commenting on your apparent statement that they'd trained a monkey to act in the film, as opposed to it being entirely CGI.
Wait . . .

. . . What?

Imagine going to a film that detailed Palace's meteoric rise from 15,000 at home to buying Murray off their arch rivals, to winning a play-off against those arch rivals one season later culminating in a Wembley win that led to a Premier League place. Now imagine that film was getting rave reviews and that you didn't even have to understand football to enjoy it.

Well that's how I feel about a film featuring Robbie f**king Williams. Not for me Clive.

We'll put you down as being on the fence then.
