Time will tell….my point is it’s a positive message, talking the country up and putting in place policies which encourage growth.
Complete opposite to the tax grabbing, big government, anti business we have here, for too long…..

Gods country fortnightly
Love him or hate him, it was a speech of hope, ambition and better things to come, (ok some BS)
But, contrast that with the UK talking down and doom loop.
There’s a reason why US GDP compared to EU has doubled in last 10 years. They want to get bigger, they want economic freedom and small state.
We gave them that 250 years ago…
We are the ones who don’t have ambition to grow
We are the US 4 years ago
The US has done well growth wise and now has 1000 billionaires, but each one is a failure of the system.

Trump is a symptom of huge inequality created, he's excellent at exploiting grievance. That's what populists do..

I guess having growth encouraged which may or may not trickle down to working people (let's face it, it won't) is worth all the baggage that he brings with him.

he hasn't laid out a plan to help who voted for him?
But I thought he did...

Paraphrasing from memory:

America will become a manufacturing nation again
They will apply tariffs to imports
They will endeavour for peace and try to stop wars
They will not get involved in wars if they can avoid them
They will improve the health service
They will stop illegal immigration
They will deport illegal aliens
They will make use of the natural underground resources
etc.

Whether he delivers or not we won't know for some time, of course, but he DID lay out his plans.
Indeed he said his plan was to take action TODAY. Not start a consultation process or form a working party, but to actually sign the legal orders today.

He still doesn't understand how tariffs work. He thinks he'll increase tariffs on China, for example, and send China the

If Americans don’t think he has improved the quality of their life in 4 years, they will flip again… let’s see

Its interesting all the talk about small government and deporting millions of illegals. You're gonna need a police state to do that...

With his designation of cartels as terrorist organisations, presumably he may decide Mexico is another country which harbours terrorists, meaning any body who has holidayed in Mexico recently will struggle to get an ESTA. Bit like he did with Cuba last time he was in the White House.

Thank you, I guess pOtG wasn't paying attention.

I have to say though that is slim pickings in terms of help for the working people.

Tarrifs are going to make goods more expensive as people are forced to buy American. Without and increase in wages and welfare this could well make things harder for people.

Improving the health care really could mean anything. I suspect it means scrapping free health care and making more money for the drug and insurance companies.

No wars is good, not sending people's kids off to fight over oil is brilliant.

I'm not sure how much the immigration thing will change things for people. I suspect this is a smokescreen to hide the damage his rich friends are doing. But happy to be proven wrong.

More drilling for oil may help people in the short term but longer term will be an environmental disaster. More fires, more hurricanes etc.

So from that list we have the war thing, which is great but is it worth the baggage?

Still they knew all this when they voted for him and definitely are not stupid or misinformed so I guess it will all work out for them.

The electorate knew exactly what they were voting for (after all, they've had him for a full term previously). I'm not a Trump fan, but it looks as if they are getting what they voted for. That's democracy.
It is democracy and we will all get what they voted for.

You missed the expansionist rhetoric then......

Has he ended the war in Ukraine yet?

If not - why not?
First day was rounding up the immigrants want it. Second day is is ending wars (winning them for Russia).

Do you think he'll rest on the 7th day?

Like Brexit, immigration is being used as a trogan horse, a grooming tool to secure the base. Meanwhile Trump's cronies get enriched further, its a very transactional relationship.

Its similar to what the Tories did here with donors but on a much bigger scale

Populism: a political approach that strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are disregarded by established elite groups.

Populism: political ideas and activities that are intended to get the support of ordinary by giving them what they want.

Populism: a political philosophy or movement that represents or is claimed to represent the interests of ordinary people especially against the Establishment.

Populism: What's not to like.

Still early hours of the morning in Moscow, Vladimir will tell him how it’s going to end when he wakes up
