He was great again. Really impressed with his attitude and willpower.

Hardly the best player for us in any game - still a lot to learn at this level - but we play SO much better with him than without him.

Given all the money we spent in midfield in the summer, and given Baleba is a nailed-on starter, no one would have predicted Ayari would feature anywhere near as much as he has.

And for someone who could barely get a game at Blackburn last season, was 20 years old when the season started and had never kicked a ball in the Premier League, it's been an incredible display.

Of course he's going to be inconsistent, but he's a real gem.

Didnt rate him first half at all , better 2nd

Not convinced by him at all yet tbh
This! Amazing how a victory can pull the rose tinted specs down. Awful first half last night and only marginally better second. I'm yet to be convinced but obviously far to early too be writing off.

I don't wathc us live very much on TV as I'm more often than not at the match, last night was a TV watch and it allowed me to watch it with not 'quite' as much emotion as I would in the ground. At one point I found myself thinking/saying "FFS Ayari/Baleba" when another pass went astray or the wrong option was taken or they left a runner to each other; then it suddenly dawned on me, in EPL terms these 2 are playing in both the most important positions on the pitch, and they are relative children!!!! Are they both 21? That in itself is incredible. It is why I'd bring Wieffer back in though once fit. We've seen the difference that having Velts/Dunk back has had, and Welbz up top. We need that experience now and again in the engine of the team.

Be as sloppy as that against top opposition first half and we are going in 2-0 down. It’s all a bit rushed from Ayari he can’t control the tempo that well at all.

I think most players looked pretty shitehouse in the first half, but Ayari stepped up in the second and was one of the best performers on the pitch.

I rate him. In fact, he was my tip for 'surprise package of the season', or something similar, at the start of the 23/24 season before he went out on loan. I think he'll grow into a very big part of the team.

Was woeful 1st half ,2nd half the whole energy improved, he's got great technical ability but not disciplined what soever ,

Exactly what Coventry fans said. He’s still young and seems to be Fabs go to. Away at Villa he got spun badly by McGinn 3 or 4 times and they were in so lucky Watkins was off his game.
If we are honest the last two games the opposition has been dire.

Totally agree. I have such a lot of time for Ayari. He's a grafter, he works hard, he's had to come back from a couple of underwhelming loans and has used that to become a fixture in the team. Deserves a lot of credit for that.

Last night, he was a BIG reason as to why we improved in the second half.

Interesting that during a poor first half last night, Yasin was the one getting pelters as if the poor performance was all down to him!
Following a few adjustments at half time, maybe the changes were both beneficial to both Yasin and the team in general. I've always thought that if the loans he had were with teams that didn't play to his strengths and/or he couldn't excel with poorer players around him, there is the argument that playing in a better team with better players, shows him in a much better light.

Blows slightly hot and cold for me still but I'm definitely warming to him. Still young. His physicality is still a bit of an issue and I'm not sure about him and MOR I the same team.

The thing I like about him the most though is he ALWAYS wants the ball. Even in tough periods when more experienced players are wilting. And always looks to be positive with it. Good sign.

I'm still not sure quite what that position he plays is. But he's definitely on an upward trajectory.

Poor attempt at a beard…eyebrows almost as big…..oh hang on I’m supposed to be judging his football ability ….for his age/lack of PL experience and quality of play at times…a big bonus…..just needs to put it together for ninety mins….but then you could say that latter bit about the side as a whole

Personally I'd like to see Wieffer alongside Baleba above Hinsh and Ayari . Still loads to come from him and probably our second best player at winning back the ball.

Think he’s underrated by some on here, possibly partly because of his build, which is slight.

He’s a skilled passer of the ball, and I can understand why in Wieffer’s absence he’s the preferred choice to partner Baleba. The question for me is whether he’ll still be preferred when Wieffer is fit.

My guess is he will be in games where incisive passing is prioritised, and won’t in games where athleticism is what’s required, but that’s just guesswork on my part.

I really like Ayari, When Matts is fit though i would be pairing him with Baleba.

Lots of talk about Mats Wieffer. Since he was thigh injured in April last year he's spent ~6 months out with various (because I guess his last one was another of these) thigh injuries. Said a month ago he's finally fully fit, plays 150 minutes of football over a few weeks and is then gone for a month+ again. Same thing earlier, and same thing in the pre-season.

Think its far more likely we'll hear about him going under the knife than seeing him as a key player in our midfield before the season is over. Right now its a bit of a Manchester United-style "our midfield will be great when Owen Hargreaves is back". I see it as a bonus if we get him "up to speed" this season at all.

Playing in the middle of the park is a very much highlighted position. So he will get more critiques.

Player who goes under the radar a little bit, but last night I thought he was by far and away man of the match. Absolute box to box performance so. Really pleased he’s kicked on after two poor loan spells.
Second half he was sensational.

First half the game seemed to pass him by. I wonder if he struggles in a three. Looked at his best after MOR came off.

He's a weird player. In spells he plays well beyond his years and looks to be a real asset to the team, I feel like his tenacity is a real strongpoint for him but he's clearly pretty raw at the moment

First half last night I thought he was by far-and-away our worst player out there. His work on the ball was really loose and others looked frustrated with him. Second half he really picked it up and was one of our better players.

Fabian seems to really love him though, and that counts for something I suppose. He's persistent with Ayari whereas the likes of O'Reilly still get used fleetingly

yeah this.

Prior to his injury, Hinsh was more likely to start with Baleba than Ayari.
It's great to have these young players developing at the club, but they will develop quicker playing with experienced heads.

If every one is fit I would like to see Baleba starting with either Weiffer or Milner.

For me he can struggle when the game is evenly poised and makes some basic errors when under pressure. This often happens when we start start slow in games as a team. However, he is excellent when the momentum is in our favour and he has been one of out best players in several second halves this season.

He has done a great job with the level of injuries. As and when Weiffer, Gomez and Hinch are available I can see him being a great addition in the second half / last 30 mins of games when we are either comfortable or chasing the game.

I also have no doubt that he can become the full package over the next few seasons. Great to have another young player that we have developed into Premier League quality when required.

I like him too, but I always thought Moran looked the better player. Shows what I know!
