He played for us on loan. He then joined Watford (but subsequently couldn't get a work permit).
In actual fact, it sounds like Barry Lloyd wanted more time to assess him before committing to a permanent deal, not that it would have mattered due to the work permit.

I think we lost Livramento because Chelsea wanted a £25 million buy back clause. Saints ate that but I could never see TB accepting it.

Edit: if we can include Pritch-tard, then Pinamonte seemed much more exciting when he was knocking them in for us while on loan. More exciting than Zamora (for 5 minutes).

It was. DK announced the new manager was about to sign, went to Gatwick to meet Schäfer, who promptly doubled his demands. DK turned him down, but it was then July, so he was in a bit of a pickle asking Martin Hinshelwood to help out!
