The real issue is why are people paying over £20 for a toasted sandwich? Its supposed to be cheap and cheerful but its exibit A for rip off culture.

People who obsess over pizza lack tastebuds as well not getting the concept of value.
OK I'll bite, as this seems a bit of a route one comment to make in a pizza thread...

This feels a bit like food snobbery, or a sign that you've not experienced a decent pizza. Yes, there are many average ones out there, but I've been lucky enough over the years to have had some spectacular ones - flavour, freshness, combinations of ingredients, etc. Obviously some people exist almost exclusively on a diet of very average pizzas, particularly from large chain places (and particularly those who deliver) and they probably won't have experienced anything to make them question their life choices. Someone my sons went to uni with had a pizza delivered every single day while they were away in digs!

Also, remember if people making pizzas are using great quality ingredients, the corresponding price (and value) of the completed item will be higher than a "toasted sandwich". Cheap and cheerful is fine for those grabbing a slice of pepperoni while out and about, but if you are having one as part of a proper meal, you expect better - and if you pick the right place, you'll get it, too.

Because there are probably 250 odd things that go better on a pizza. It’s the same reason I don’t make or serve anchovy cake.

If pear and gorgonzola is acceptable, why not ham and pineapple?

Pineapple works with savoury things so I feel the hate is manufactured.

Btw, the Italian do like a good anchovy cake

If you used to work in Grubbs ignore this pineapple nonsense, can you tell me how to make thier chilli sauce?
think it was a burger relish with chili flakes thrown in!
But I also know that this is a code question that unlocks a free burger if you were visiting one of the other establishments!

Its not a quality of ingredients issue, try talking to people in other countries and compare prices.
