I don't hate Crystal Palace at all. They are a pantomime rival.

I'm not well disposed towards Chelsea at all and enjoy them losing. It's just the way club operates. They don't deserve success.
Agree. The hostility towards Palace is distinctly Panto and far more compelling reasons to dislike Chelsea and Arsenal.

I have more genuine disdain for Chelsea, for everything they've become and the general entitlement of their glory hunting fans (Rory Jennings anyone??), I know they have some genuine fans but they seem to be less and less.

Let's face it, you're hardly likely to support Palace for the glory are you? Most Palace fans are like us, in that they have a local or familial tie with them, which is something to be respected at least. We've more in common with them than not. They are like slightly chavvy South London cousins you always want to beat.

So paradoxically..... I loathe Chelsea more, but feel a lot worse when we lose to Palace.

Exactly. I think a lot of people have the wrong end of the stick. Of course Chelsea aren't our rivals, the idea is preposterous, but that wasn't the question. Palace may indeed be scum but they're 'our' scum. Consequently I can't believe there are people who hate Palace more than Chelsea, it's like hating your poverty-stricken neighbour whilst kow-towing to the rich bastards up the road.

I used to fixate on Palace's results and enjoy their defeats as much as Brighton wins. Which is all a bit odd when you think about it. I've mellowed, and just enjoy the cartoony nature of the rivalry. I booed their fans when they arrived at the Amex, but I was laughing too. I'd expect the same at Selhurst.

My dislike of Chelsea was severely inflamed by them raiding us for Potter et al. That's died down now. I just regard them as the least classy of all the "big" clubs, with a fan base that was once the most racist in English football and is possibly now the most entitled. I don't even care that much when they beat us – that's what they should be doing with those resources. Big deal.

Oddly... I dislike Liverpool more than either of them. I hated Liverpool during the 70s and 80s, and that has never quite gone away , even though Im far too old to "hate" a football club. But for the purposes of this poll, it's Palace.

I must have forgotten when Chelsea fans:
  1. barged their way into the Amex injuring one of their own stewards
  2. persuaded their CEO to give some of them priority seat bookings
  3. only really bothered to sing untrue offensive songs about our captain
  4. rewrote history to make them an older club than they are
  5. put up silly posters outside their training ground
Silly me.

Don't forget their coach driver curling out a Vince on the dressing room floor. Then standing back keeping schtum about it all, whilst BHA publicly apologised to them, and conducted a full internal enquiry.

When all along they knew full well it was one of their staff who'd done it.

Grubby.
