What’s everyone’s opinions on Shane Duffy? Haven’t seen a single person here who actually loves him?
Loved him as a player at that time. He was exactly what we needed. Complete wrongun, but that's OK, many people are.

Wouldn't be anywhere near our team for the least three seasons, and he's playing at the right level now.

On the pitch I liked him a lot, at his peak he was on par with Dunk. I remember a lot of games Duffy would shout at Dunk to stop whining, he's probably one of a very few players who could get away with that, but it was needed. Even players like Dunk needed to be shouted at and Duffy had gained the respect to be able to do it.

Great CB for a side battling relegation, alongside a more cultured ball player. Would politely clap him.

Although guessing by now he's probably already had the clap several times over.

Really? He absolutely epitomised our march to the Premier League. Limited at the very highest level but decent in the Championship and was integral to a defence that never threatened to look bad enough for relegation and got us to a FAC Semi. We hardly ever got spanked in the Prem, even in the early years.

I loved him.

Dunk and Duffy were the absolute rock that Hughton built on in the first season to avoid relegation and then next season to get automatic promotion followed by keeping us in the PL. They were a beastly duo.

Yep all of this.

Big Shane was superb for us., when we needed him.
And respectful, when that time passed.

Dunk and Duffy were the most formidable partnership, with the low block required to keep us in the Premier League.
Duffy also chipped in with 7 premier League goals for us (including 5 in that arduous18/19 season.)

One of many crucial players, responsible for where we are today.

Well OTT all that Duffy love-in yesterday.

"Duffy scores, we're on the pitch....."

Acknowledge his arrival on the pitch with polite applause then cheer our lads on.

A few people have replied to me about this such as @Simster

It was actually a joke, a clearly failed bit of NSC silliness  it was because the poster directly above had just giving a gushing love letter to Shane. Which is great because I love him too.

In short; failed joke.

Nah, you're wrong there.

Game was won.
We came out with a slightly amusing chant for the big man.

It was totally in keeping with the fans relationship with Shane.
His celebration of Maupay's equaliser at Selhurst PArk was well OTT.
But we love him for that and countless other moments in his Albion career.

Polite rounds of applause are for the likes of Lallana, Bissouma and Oliver Norwood

I guess we're all different.

He holds some great memories, but a legend....nah.

Surely it’s only the anti Irish weirdos who would begrudge Shane? Yes he stood up for Derry but every normal person who comes from there does that. Absolutely gave his heart and soul to Brighton

Will always love Shane for scoring first in Ireland's 5-1 loss to Denmark in the 2018 World Cup play-offs.

My biggest-ever returns on a bet. Legend.

:clap2:

100% this. Game well won. Would have been fuckin hilarious if he’d headed in a consolation amid “limbs” from the wrong end. (Not so funny if it quickly became 2-4 and the pressure was on etc, but personally I’d have taken that chance 🤣, but then again I’m a weirdo)
