As Arsenal failed to score from a corner yesterday, you can bet your bottom dollar some clubs will try the same tactic now.
As above, we're not the OGs with this one.

Sorry this is from The Sun - it's the first link I could find...

I agreed with it but apart from disrupting the arse corners, it was highly frustrating that we didn’t capitalise by Bart throwing the ball out QUICKLY to the three up front left and right instead of standing on the ball letting their defenders and midfielders get back into formation before passing it to JPV then Webster, then JPV , then Webster…….ad infinitum
It's good that Hurzeler has been reading NSC and taking our advice to leave player(s) on the half way line at corners - let's hope he reads this too and drums the message into Verbruggen!

It was very clever. I think we should employ it all the time as

1) It means the goalkeeper isn’t sandwiched between two players as much
2) There is much more space in the box, less blocking, making it easier to mark players.
3) Makes the attacking team more nervy as they have to think not only about attacking but conceding possession; if they give the ball away there’s an immediate 3 v 3 counter attack.
Bart Only caught one cross , and Arsenal still won most of the headers ,
but was a good idea ,

Except in our case Barts distribution is so slow and indecisive, every single Arsenal player had walked back to his own half before he rolled it out to JPVH.

leaving a few men up to ease congestion is a great idea, but why you wouldn't try and iuse the break opportunity is beyond me.

scaredy cats.

Arsenal are the set-piece specialists apparently. Maybe they did win most of the headers but they didn’t seem to trouble us. All a Brighton player has to do is win one challenge and punt the ball up field and there’s a serious 3 on 3 break away threat. Imagine this against lesser opponents.

Well now we know(ish). It was discussed on here after the Arse Brentford game where every player from both sides was in the Brentford box.

Don't understand why we didn't do the same for those free kicks from just outside the penalty box
And this was the right answer it seems!

We could try leaving some players on the half-way line when they get a corner.
Good call @Bodian 👏🏻👏🏻

It’s incredibly satisfying that we stopped their corner threat whilst other teams (Palace) got murdered by it!!

Knowing that we are 3 on 3 on the half way line, I was disappointed that nobody managed a hoof upfield on any of their corners. If ever there was a time and a place to 'go all Wimbledon'

Not sure we have anyone with delivery as good as Rice, etc. We seem to take it in turns, and why we send Estupinan (not last night) 60m to take an easily cleared corner I don’t know.
That low cross rice hit through the gap of defenders holding a high line ws the perfect chaos ball. Defnders and forwards all running towards goal and only needs one touch from anyone to be potentially lethal..never understood why it isn't tried more often

I was waiting for your wit and repartee.

And sure enough here you appear.

Nice one. I can today face the world with renewed optimism

if you get a chance, I have posted on a few other threads. If you can see yourself clear to reply to them it would be most welcome

Mate you need GT49 or whatever to make a comment to validate your comments.

He was utter tosh yesterday, but his delivery from set pieces is excellent. The one where he just passed the ball into the space between the defence and keeper was outstanding.

There was one instance, think it went to Gruda or Minteh - whoever was on the right at the time - but the counterattack was snuffed out fairly quickly.

Good to see Fab try new tactics , this is a ploy i have always liked , there are so many more opportunities with a couple of men on the halfway line . Three was a master stroke against such a good set piece side , more of the same please Fab .
