Muse -uprisng (if I'm allowed to pronounce his surname as Reyes)

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will see Vitor Reis
(so come on)

Sigh
Doesn't matter how his name is pronounced, we should all be singing this. Doesn't even matter if we sign him or not, I'm game.

There's got to be something around "he's as cold as ice, and willing to sacrifice..."

Depends if it's pronounced rice or reece. Or even potentially rayce.

Good grief. Somehow, a lot of people on this thread seem to think he's of German origin, given all the rice puns.

Breaking news: he's Brazilian, therefore the simplest way of saying it for the English speaker would be race.

Or, ray-ees, if you want to be really precise (for the sake of complexity, I am ignoring the Portuguese way of saying the letter R with a rolled tongue, so it comes out more like HHHHRRRR).

Its not absurd in the slightest to hear a German name in Sao Paulo.

But yes it would appear this is Reis (pronounced race, one syllable), meaning kings.

Yeah R at the beginning of a word here is pronounced as an H. For example Ronaldo is pronounced Honaldo, Ricardo = Hicardo etc etc.
Took me ages to get used to it
Possibly goes some way to explain why my Brazilian neighbour calls her son Thierry "Teehee".

I’m getting a little worried about how we replace Lewis Dunk. This seems like the perfect age to sign someone with world class potential who could fill our captain’s boots when his time comes to retire or leave the club.
That person would need to be first team ready next season. Dunk could start dropping off very quickly now. I suspect our biggest spend this summer will be an unusually old (for us-23/24) central defender.

I expect we’ll go for one experienced CB ( Boscagli ?) and a younger, high potential one.

Think we'll sign at least three central defenders before the next season and this guy if he comes is likely going to be the "least ready" of them.

Van Hecke replacement, Igor replacement, Dunk successor.
