How things have changed since I was at School and Italy bordered Yugoslavia (Slovenia), Austria, Switzerland and France. And obviously way over qualified for her role as Chairman of the European Research Group :dunce:
As the Metro has pointed out;

In 2023, while home secretary, Braverman travelled to the Greek region of Evros to check out the sturdy fence that had been built on the Turkish border to act as a deterrent.

Italy, Greece, Greece, Italy – they’re both mostly famous for people who wore togas and lived thousands of years ago. Both have capitals full of picturesque old ruins.

It’s an easy mistake to make. I’m sure nobody has noticed.

Bath, Somerset.
Back in the Corbyn years (shudder), if Diane Abbott had dropped that brain fart like that, it would have been on the front page of The Express* and The Daily Mail** for a week.

*unless a Diana or Maddie look alike was spotted in Cyprus

**unless Meghan wore an off the shoulder dress
When a Leftie makes a stupid comment, Tories claim it shows how dangerous and wilfully ignorant Lefties are, and thus unfit to govern.

When a Tory makes a stupid comment, Tories claim it shows they are human, and certainly don't deserve to be condemned for a mistake that anyone could make!

Once upon a time, presenters or journalists would question or politely correct the speaker, but now the media are just enablers.

That’s not fair, they’d definitely still question or correct Labour or Lib Dem politicians

Putting aside the absolute wrong headeness of this economically illiterate ex city boy, are they aiming for a new type of politics? "Yes, Farage is a threat, but we've got to be one step ahead Kemi. Let me tell you about a new concpet called UNpopolarism:

They have never for a moment considered why all of us lazy spongers might 'prefer a lie-in to hard work'. The industrial revolution began in the mid 18th century, so putting aside the preceding centuries of feudal agrarian slog, the British working people have been doing capitalism's hard work for roughly 2.75 centuries.

What have we got out of it? Take it away Merle.

All together 'Another day older...'

Of course 'I owe my soul to the company store' is out of date, but scans better than '...to the multinationals, banks and 1% billionaires whose dirty work the toadying lickspittles in the Conservative party are still doing.'

You only have to look at the internet posts from the 1750's to realise that our lifestyle is no different from what theirs was. :clap:
