Good result for the neighbours and cracking first goal. Plenty of chances for Newhaven but poor finishing let them down.
Decent crowd and plenty of non league dogs to say hello to

Great to see you. After a last minute sing up ol big mouth up in the main stand informed us, in his usual charming manner, it was our first Boxing Day victory in 10 years. Hadn’t really thought about it, that’s booze for yer!

In a pile of football shirts
Steyning 3-3 Lancing. Quite entertaining, Steyning had the edge for most of the game, let a 2-0 lead go to 2-2, got a third with 3 minutes to go, then gifted Lancing another equaliser with a minute to go.

Rape of Hastings, Sussex
Hastings United v league leaders Dover Athletic this afternoon at a foggy Pilot Field. A 2-0 win to the visitors was the final score

Well…, what a game down at the enclosed ground yesterday. Pretty drab first half until Jasper Sheikh in the Whitehawk goal decided to drag down Dulwich Hamlet’s striker in the box and give away a penalty, gets sent off. Of course being non league, no Keeper on the bench so big Rob O’Toole volunteers to go in net. Get a hand to the penalty but doesn’t save it. Second half on around 60 minutes Whitehawk who had been the better side since the red get a penalty to level it up with an emphatic strike from Briggs. Before Bermudan international Luke Robinson (formerly of Worthing, Haywards Heath, Whitehawk again, Lancing and Brighton Academy) curled a lovely strike from outside the box. 2-1 up, the Alamo rains down on the Whitehawk goal with O’Toole in goal, before he makes one of the best saves I think I’ve ever seen flicking a goal bound header onto the bar. Stunning performance from Saunders men, unbeaten currently under the returning manager. Huge game on Wednesday against Lewes down at the enclosed ground. Hopefully get a good crowd down there for a local derby. Should be a cracker.

Could be very fresh! Sadly with likely postponement, although choice of ends will be key if it’s on! 💨
