For balance, I didn't renew this season and cancelled my ticket but forgot to cancel my youngest sons ticket in time, which auto renewed and obviously he can't go on his own.

I got a survey email asking questions around why the ticket wasn't getting used and phoned them to tell them he is 13 and can't go to games on his own because of safeguarding and they cancelled the ticket and refunded me all the games this season.

Regarding the OP's Friend, I believe the club would have reached out to him on more than one occasion and he has ignored them so the took the action to cancel the tickets as there was no response.

I've had positive experience with the exchange also.

We haven't got the biggest stadium, so as a business model that is trying to compete with powerhouses, you can see why the club want to ensure maximum revenue, especially now with PSR. I get your sentiment though.
I totally respect that, even if my experiences have been terrible so far.

I would argue the economic point though. Because a) if you made it easier for fans to transfer tickets to registered members, we’d earn more as a club through concessions because we’d have fuller stadiums, which we’re struggling with at present. And b) if the club strong arm supporters as the OP suggests, then we’ll lose good supporters over the long term. The club may not be worried about this at the moment, but they sure as heck will if we’re ever relegated.

Yeh, it’s a bit harsh but I think I agree with the club’s policy on this one on the assumption that there is a waiting list.

Anyone know what other clubs do? Allowi season tickets to be inerited runs the risk of it becoming a closed shop.

How is it anything to do with money? The ST has to be paid for whoever sits there the following season.
Did you read the post I was replying to?

This isn't Liverpool. Also, if other members of the family were interested in the Albion, wouldn't they already be going! As others have said, passing it on to any member of the family means they are jumping the queue of those that have paid to be on a waiting list.
Generations of fans go. This isn’t hard to make sense of. If you can keep generations going, you guarantee revenue over a longer period of time. And, just re your point, the people in their family that wanted the tickets were on the waiting list.

So were they at the top of the waiting list and therefore entitled to the next season tickets that become available?

I'm well aware that generations go but also there are plenty of new fans whose parents possibly didn't go. We're playing in front of over 30k now. 14 years ago it was less than 10K and probably not a dissimilar number to the last years of the Goldstone. It was never a problem at the Goldstone as from about 1979, we never really sold out.

I do wonder if we have the full story as it does seem that the action taken by the club is premature, given what we've been told.

I've just had a quick scan of the T&Cs for this season - Men’s First Team Season Ticket – Terms & Conditions (Season 2024/25)

The only bit I can find about attendance is on ST renewals - which states that they might not allow a renewal if the ST holder has attended 'less than 25% of matches'.

I have to chuckle, some of you seem desperate for some drama here, it’s really simple and as I’ve described. There’s nothing being hidden.

I've missed plenty of games and never listed my ticket, never been told off via email either

We'll make it easy for you. How many of the 8 home league games so far has he missed? And, how many did he miss last season?
I'm not the fan in question but I've missed all 8 due to childcare issues. My selling on the exchange/friends and family has been "patchy".

I got the email of doom, but they haven't listed my tickets.

The dread email says :

"
A reminder, the season ticket needs to be used by you, as the season ticket owner, for at least 5 out of the 19 home league matches.

If you are unable to attend a home league match we ask that you take one of the following actions:

..."

It is seems that personal attendance is required for 5 games. I think it'll be a struggle for me unless games are moved to midweeks.

I have listed the next 3 games on the exchange myself and 2 have already sold.

I wish we still lived in lower technology times. No electronic record, no scanning and surveillance. A simpler life. More freedom. I'm glad I experienced those days.

Oh well. It is what it is. C'est la vie. Doomed (probably).
