With Ralph Little departed the BBC have now replaced him with an actor of colour, ex Eastenders serial killer Don Gilet, in the lead, which almost defeats the whole premise of the series, a white copper fish out of water etc , solving a different murder each week.

But it’s was really good, so don’t worry about more apparent subliminal box ticking from the Beeb, if you’ve got a spare 90 minutes and want some quality entertainment it’s on BBC Iplayer.

You're nothing if not consistent.

Casual racism, typos, BBC-bashing, a bizarre back-handed compliment and punctuation that's all over the place.

Sorry, I was just doing my own bit of 'box-ticking' (and it wasn't even subliminal)...

But he has Carribbean roots, like I said it is moving away from the original narrative, but its really good, so enjoy it.

Maybe they'd exhausted the white copper fish of of water scenario?, and not for the first time this old fucker jumped to the wrong conclusions :lolol:

On another note Merry Xmas 🎄

As expected it was shit. However I’m contractually obliged to watch it as it was a “drama” suitable for my son when he was little.

Now at 15 he’s more cynical than I am, ripping the piss out of it much to the annoyance of the lady of the house.

For example, him out of Rising Damp pulling him up for throwing a few baskets “in the middle of a murder enquiry” never used to give Ralf Little a bollocking for knocking off at 3 o’clock and taking his team on the piss, laughing and giggling about wearing the wrong hat meanwhile there’s a infinate number of serial killers on the loose.

I’m still waiting for the perpetrator to be unmasked and then coming out with the line “if it hadn’t have been for those meddling kids…”

Anyway, that’s enough from me I’m off to watch Good Shit Murder on channel 5.

I've never watched 'Death in Paradise'. I'm not much on whodunnits anyway, but this one has always seemed too obvious; Some kind of snake-apple related incident leads on to family exile and subsequent fratricide.

Or is it like Colombo, where they have a different guest star playing Cain each week and although we know they're the murderer, the detective has to trick them into confessing? "Just one more thing sir, Do you know who your brother's keeper was?"

Just watched it, it's ok.....a lot of ex pats get dead and somebody has to do the cluedo bit on it. Light hearted and telly to not have to think about. The new bloke will fit in, just wonder which ones of the regulars will want to slit his throat first.....my money is on Ms Bordey

lol! Spot of casual racism, ageism AND sexism there!

We were in the Caribbean in February and went on the Death in Paradise Tour in… god, you lose track… Guadeloupe, I think? I’ve never seen the show but my wife is keen. Quite good fun. We had lunch in some celebrated bar, apparently, and were taken round many of the well-known spots like the bloke's place on the beach and various murder locations. Certainly a very beautiful island though personally I’d find living and working in a featureless beach environment for several months a bit dull after a while. I’m more of an urban type.
