It was also my wedding anniversary yesterday, so the Strummer sadness always balanced by a greater happiness. Will never forget the genuine shock when I heard he’d died.
Does Mrs Hamilton share this thought? :lolol:

On a more serious note, happy anniversary!

I remember that evening - came back from the bar and a punk legend is sat in my chair! Think he may even have got a round in, not certain about that though!
Remember seeing the Clash in Purley at that big venue which was formerly the Orchid Ballroom. Chaotic evening, more Police outside than a Palace game.
Tiffany’s, Purley, nearly as notorious as the Crawley leisure centre gig.

Nice to see you at the pub last night.

On your wedding anniversary. Without your wife.
My wife and I had spent a lovely evening the night before in a wonderful hotel and then the whole day together being romantic.

I know that Mrs Pogue often has to find you in the pub on a Sunday to plant your cold roast dinner in front of you, but I can assure you that Mrs Hamilton was more than happy to allow me away for an hour to say hello to a few friends (and you.)

This thread has reminded me what an incredible band they were.
Death is a star would never be a song I would consider in a top 2,10, 20, 50 etc.
But yes it is another fascinating song.

The punk stuff was great, but each album got progressively more experimental.
There are bizarre little gems on every album.
Combat rock was an incredible album - On first listen, you get the feeling that there are too many "filler" songs. After a dozen listen, every song is a memorable interesting song.
I probably haven't listened to it all the way through for 10 years at least.
But I will do, now.
