Joe died 22 years ago today leaving a musical legacy that will never be forgotten.

I think he’d be mortified at the state of the world today if he was still with us, and many of his lyrics from 45 or so years ago are still relevant now.

Always difficult to pick a top 3 Clash songs list as there are so many brilliant ones but I’ll go for:-

1) Complete Control
2) Stay Free
3) Safe European Home.

What are yours?

RIP Joe x

I couldn't decide whether to keep reading this thread or not but one thing for sure I don't remember the song "Spot On" by the Clash.

1. Complete Control
2. White Man in Hammersmith Palais
3. Safe European Home
4. Tommy Gun
5. Garageland

Lucky enough to have seen them live 11 times, including the Anti-Nazi League/Rock Against Racism Rally at Victoria Park, when they shared the bill with X-Ray Spex, Tom Robinson Band, and Steel Pulse.

Not forgetting poor old Patrick Fitzgerald who lasted all of two songs before a skinhead launched a can of cooking lager that hit him square in the face ☹️

1, White man in Hammersmith Palais
2, safe European home,
3, Rudie can’t fail
Special mention for,

Three card trick by the clash 2, a very underrated song
Silver and gold sung by Joe with the mascarados, brings a tear to my eye that song, specially the end “ ok that’s a rap” 😢

I was at that event but blimey, I don’t remember the Clash being there. I remember seeing the other bands you mention. I always tell people that not seeing the Clash is one my regrets. Perhaps I did see them after all? Kids — this is what happens when you get old.

So there was a bit of “ Banging and shouting” before it broke the “ safety pin stuck in his heart” mind you that’s a right “ Grubby story”

I never thought I would use Patrick Fitzgerald puns !
