The players we bought will peak at various times, so this was about keeping us competitive for years to come, including this season but without expecting an instant transformation. It was also a financial investment with TB expecting a strong return in future to maintain our business model. That's why we bought so many young attack minded players.
That’s the hope, often as not signings don’t quite match up according to one recent stat on either beeb or guardian or telegraph can’t remember which. Something like 40%. High risk and high reward, though you’ve often got to wonder if the fortunes on offer cause this. As always, we shall see I guess!

Still think Europe is out of sight. There are much better sides than us around and above us.

mid table mediocrity seems attainable

not sure how that ties in with bloom and barber’s intentions of pushing on by spending £200m.

I hope Gomez is the player out of those purchases that is the one as IMHO the rest have not exactly set the world alight.
Why would Europe be 'out of sight'? We're still two games away from halfway through the season and we're just 2 points off the European places.

Honestly, I just can’t understand how people can be so defeatist and so negative about our own football team. Above all, how people can be so fickle and short-termist. Just 3 or 4 games ago, if we hadn’t dropped points against Southampton, we'd have been 2nd in the Premier League. The same people moaning now were almost certainly grinning from ear to ear just 3 weeks ago. Yep, we’ve had a blip, just like pretty much every team does, at least once every season.

Will we finish in the top 6? Who knows but at the moment we're within 1 win of that position. We have Gomez to come into the side. We have the new hot-shot German national-level coach coming into support Hürzeler and shake a few things up. We have injured star players to come back.

Come on people, get a grip. We are supporters. And guess what supporters are supposed to do?

I’m now thinking of largely ignoring NSC threads after a draw, let alone a defeat. The hyperbole, overreaction and incessant negativity is ridiculous. New manager, new squad, more days lost to injury than any other team…..WTF were people expecting? :nono:

Happy Christmas everyone, try to smile occasionally.

We are supporters who have a view. Simples

that is my view.

i made the point also about Gomez

I have been ” supporting” this club for over 50 years, and have. View.

We were unlucky and the WHU goal summed it up, bounce of the ball from the Bart save was perfect. Shit happens…..again
Our first half performance was woeful though, only matched by an equally poor West Ham. They were there for the taking (as were Wolves, Southampton, Leicester and Cry) if only we had started by being fired up at the outset.

That’s a bit simplistic imo. A very poor goal to give away. Poor header by JP but the West Ham player should not be able to get a shot away with 3 defenders around him in the first place.

If anyone's driving into West London and travelling to the West Ham game, I do a reasonable valet and park service, especially for the elderly.
@swindonseagull can provide testimonials for recent.

The truth is I employ @AmexRuislip as a security guard while my car is in the station car park @ ruislip.
I lock him in the car with a bag of crisps and a tin of warm coke, he then snarls at anyone who might try to access my car...in return he cleans the inside of the windows by constantly licking them.

All that she says is invariably true.
But what is not said is what car she drives to watch Albion games ???

No need for that.

Me ‘leaving 5 mins from the end‘ was a reflection on the subs made by Lopetegui rather than a criticism of us and them changing to a back 5. I didn’t feel like watching what to me felt like a foregone conclusion ie that the last 10 minutes was going to be boringly predictable in that WHU was making a tactical change to play for the point and we’d spend 10 minutes looking close to breaking down their newly shored up defence but not actually succeeding because we rarely do in that situation.
What an odd take.

I wasn't there today, so fair play to you for taking the time, trouble and expense of going. But I have NEVER sloped off in the last few minutes of an away game on the basis of the oppo manager making a tactical switch to settle for a point. Ever. Football is chaos - ANYTHING can happen regardless, and there is absolutely nothing better than a late goal away to snatch the points.

If we are 2 or 3 down going into the vinegar strokes then yeah, I'll be a bad fan sometimes. But at 1-1 today ? No chance.

Talk about misreading someone’s post and jumping at the opportunity to make a poorly targeted dig 😂

I wasn’t there today - never said I was and if you had read any of the previous posts on this thread before deciding to have a mini rant about me being a bad fan for leaving early - you would have realised that.

I even thanked other posters for the stream links I was sent in the post you quoted ffs.

Edit - As for the rest of your post, suffice to say, unlike yourself who apparently leaves games early if we have all but lost, I have NEVER left an away game early for whatever reason nor any home game bar one in my life and that was due to illness.

I ALWAYS stay to the end and cheer the team whatever the result.

Today I just couldn’t be arsed watching the stream until the predictable end and, wanting to avoid all the inevitable bed wetting threads/posts again if we drew or lost, decided to sign off the thread before the end of the match.

Apology accepted 👍

Agree it is not quite possible given the lack of knowledge the manager and many of the players have of this league.

By the final month or two of the season I want/expect it to look quite good but going to be too far behind by then.

As long as the footballers and the football goes in the right direction, I think the board is perfectly fine missing out on Europe this season. Most of the money spent this summer is supposed to be seen on the pitch in 1-2 years. It is reasonble hoping for Europe but it isn't reasonable expecting it.

And to make your day even brighter I think Diego Gomez is either going to f*** off on loan or play 3 minutes this season. He's played in a league at the same level as League One and never experienced football in Europe. I absolutely see us shipping him to Bundesliga or Ligue 1 or even Belgium for six months or have him in the stands investing marmite and the heating politics of the United Kingdom for six months.

I felt that we turned a bit of a corner today.
Dunk much better, ditto Gruda, Wieffer was excellent gave us solidity.
JPvH’s form is a little concerning though. Needs a rest maybe?
Gruda did nothing
