For me AOTU has to be

Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To

Huge year for them and heavy music in general, Gojira at the Olympics and them playing Jimmy Kimmel really showed some top quality heavy music.

Other picks:

Bilmuri - American Motor Sports
Kendrick Lamar - GNX
Crossfaith - AЯK
Poppy - Negative Spaces

This is a pretty de facto list; I’d prob only add Honeyglaze, Big Special and Vampire Weekend.

Sounds like half the forum will be at MJ Lenderman on 30th May. I’m astonished it isn’t sold out yet.

I’d forgotten about the Jon Hopkins album. Thanks did the reminder.

Don’t think so, yours was that American dude. I’ve been a Black Midi fan for a while
Likewise a Black Midi fan, and a fan of their drummer specifically. I once deliberately positioned myself directly in front of him at a gig, he’s great to watch. He’s a brilliant combination of power and pattern. I was then slightly surprised to learn he’s the drummer on the Nala Sinephro album….which is gentle and skittering.

TL. DR the Black Midi drummer is a real talent.

Nala Sinephro’s Endlessness is also another on my list which I forgot.

If you're a fan of drumming then this is a great video. Incredibly talented drummer who states his playing is influenced by gospel, pop, hip hop and metal.
