I think there's worse things in the world to worry about. Bobby Robson got one. He's certainly not the 'least deserving'

Agreed. And although his club record wasn't a patch on Robson's in international football terms he achieved more than Sir Bobby did. (I know, I know, every other nation was rubbish, he should have done better with the players he had, every other England manager was better, etc etc etc).

Of course not. He had one job; win the Euros or World Cup. He failed. You shouldn't be rewarded for failure.
Look at our cycling knights: Hoy, Kenny, Wiggins, Cavendish and Dames Laura Kenny and the GOAT Dame Sarah Storey. All of them serial winners at Olympics and Worlds.
The rewarding of a serial loser just demonstrates why we need to get rid of this archaic system.

very very daft. have to wonder who and how they vet the nominations, because about every year there's an odd one that just creates negative publicity. you'd think they'd recognise that problem and look to be more reserved and considered, then they announce a gong for someone most famous for almost winning a trophy.

Wind back to pre Southgate. We were a joke, none of the players really wanted to play for England, and the country had given up on the team. It was really that bad. Succesive managers had failed despite having a golden era of players.
Under his leadership this was completely turned around and we reached two Euro finals and a world cup final.
By any measure he is the second most successful England manager in history.
He has also done that with dignity and humility.
Just because he is ex Palace and didn't pick Brighton players (generally) doesn't mean we can't respect what he achieved. He gave me some of my best England supporting moments ever. For that I'd happily knight him. Southgate you're the one.
