Quite this regards getting/expecting personal letters. Mrs Amex lost out, didn’t get a letter but as she says ‘it was all over the news then and frequently mentioned over the years on and in media. Guess these 10% just never watched or read or took notice of news items in the last 20 odd years’.I’ll first admit that I’m not overly versed in this particular issue. But there seems to be an issue with people not being sent a letter regarding the change. Is there an expectation that they should? There’s been pension changes, and tax changes and law changes for that matter, in my lifetime but I’ve never expected a personal letter about these. I’m not quite understanding this.
As to if compensation should be made is a matter of opinion, but all I can say is that it’s a classic example of politicians leaping onto band wagons demonstrating sympathy and promising the earth to garner support but when it comes to them being in power, their opinion, or the reality of what is or isn’t possible, is a totally different beast.
