Nope, that is not at all tempting, we have to think of the cost of a replacement, show me someone who has the potential to be 70 million plus player available for roughly 20 million, we do not need the money and he has a contract until 2029 !! think about that for a second, when he negotiated a new contract his stock was high, yet he was aware his form will deep and rise, I think he is not stupid and knows his time will come, and here is probably one of the best clubs to do that without the hassle of that high price tag on his back.
We do not need 15-20 million that bad, considering we are currently pushing for midtable mediocrity

I wonder , rather like with trossard, whether a half sensible bid might tempt the board as it would make a few problems go away.
He looks so far from the player he was though , and needs a sizeable rebuild.

FWIW if Welbeck is still not fit for Saturday then I'd start Evan. At the expense of Pedro or Rutter. We need a centre forward in the side, and IMO Pedro isn't one. So those 2 fight it out for the 10 shirt.

I see this potentially going the way of Gyökeres. You can’t expect teenagers to be finished article 20+ goals a season strikers, they’ll ebb and flow mentally and physically.
I’m not sure Ferguson should be in the first team atm, but that says nothing about next season or the season after. However, once a player has had a taste of first team, I can understand it may feel like a regression to drop back to the U23s.
This is largely going to come down to Evan. He’s going to have lots of teams promising to make him their main man and play him immediately, which will sound tempting to him. Whether they actually do or not will depend on whether he starts scoring goals as soon as he moves. If he doesn’t, he’ll sit on the bench wherever he moves to. Does Evan have patience with us as we have patience with him? Or is the lure of a fresh start too strong.

I'm trying to think of other players who played well for an extended period at age 18, then became progressively worse for the rest of their career. I can't think of too many
Rooney peaked at 18. Decent career obviously after that but he wasn’t the same player as he was at 18 and did get progressively worse but obviously from a ridiculous high point. He was phenomenal at that age, possibly the best in the world.
Michael Owen similarly peaked at that young age. Michael Johnson at Man City also.
And Ansu Fati did it at 16!
I want him to have a good run in the side. I really don’t want Pedro playing as a striker again as we need someone to lead the line. The issue we have is how to get enciso rutter and Pedro into the same side if fergie plays.
My guess is a front four of Mitoma enciso Rutter and Pedro which i really don’t like.

Jack Wilshere comes immediately to mind although there's no reason to expect Evan Ferguson to follow the same path.

IIRC, at the same age as Evan, Harry Kane hadn't started a game for Spurs and Ian Wright and Jamie Vardy weren't professional footballers. They all seemed to get a few goals at the top level

I wouldn't have an issue with Rutter being dropped for Enciso for the next match. Enciso played considerably better than him

No chance. Rashford is someone who has almost always seemed to do well against us but I would not want this. Obviously it would never happen given the wages anyway.

I actually think it's the opposite. There are a lot of prospects who come through looking great at 18, only to fall off. Bale, Owen, Alli, James Rodriguez, Janazai etc. I think it's rarer for young players to play well at 18 and stay that way.
What is Bale doing on this list? He was brilliant player.
Michael Owen won the ballon dor in 2001 when he would have been 21 or 22. This was despite his hamstring tear in the late 90s that hindered his career. He was then plagued by injury but at times was still brilliant.
