Similar, from the IOW, but for me it’s the getting back, Southern unreliability and more so with the engineering works on Island Line and, for a 3pm KO (yes, rare, I know), I end up on the 20.20 FastCat. Anything later and it’s a bus and midnight in doors

I think it may also help if:
a) Southern put longer trains on, lost count the number of times a four carriage trains trundles out of Southampton - Evening Games are out of the question as cannot guarantee a train from Brighton to Southampton
b) If you could pre-book a space at Mill Hill, like EDF

Four hours from Mile Oak. LOL as the kids say.
On average me and the boy leave South Portslade around 12. 1x to town, Belgian fries, three pints in the pub, train and at the ground by around 2.15 for a 3pm kick off.
Which is pretty decent.

It's soul destroying and hard work using the trains and buses coming from the west.
And it's a bun fight trying to book parking in advance.
Poor performances mixed with rubbish weather drag people down.
The fear of missing out stops me from not renewing my season ticket, which causes an internal stress.
We have a very good young squad that plays exciting football which is a joy to watch and makes me very proud. We seem to be on course to establishing ourselves as a regular top 10 Premier League side.
I don't know what the transport solution is. I'm sure the club are doing all they can.
But I certainly sympathise with anyone who wonders if the massive effort is really worth it.
It's currently a habit, but once it's changed it is unlikely to return.
All the time the Premier League brand is on offer the club have no problem selling out. And happily for the Albion, one-off attendees spend far more money than regulars.
I find match day travel stressful and very frustrating but worth it with the football that is currently on offer.
I hope transport improves, but I'm not expecting it. However I would like to hear more from the club acknowledging the problem. It always seems to feel that a lack of engagement and acknowledgement with fans about transport is what the club consider to be the best policy, because they realise they have no solution.

Running EDF and Pyecombe permanently would be the answer, but there would be no guarantee of spaces at EDF on a work day without impacting their workers and no guarantee of the extra buses and drivers.
I’m sure the club have looked into it because the travel options once you get further west than Shoreham are certainly difficult, particularly going home.
Due to other stuff, junior ended up parking at Sussex Uni on Sunday and arrived in his seat just as GOSBTS was playing. Was surprised that there were so many parking spaces available to buy on Saturday (60+) - for those who do this regularly I thought they sold out ?
Anyway, took about 50 mins to leave the car park (from arriving at the car) after the match. Won’t be doing it again unless absolutely necessary

I’ve just realised that’s probably what you tell your Missus who sometimes reads your posts on here.

Was the stadium seat to home time similar to when doing the walk to Woodingdean method? But you prefer the feeling of making progress.
I find queuing tedious.
I can relate to that. We did @Tom Hark Preston Park route home of the 49 after Southampton. It was no quicker overall but we were on the move walking and got a seat on the bus. Time wise it was no better but at no point were we standing still, except for 5 mins waiting for the bus.
This season I’ve walked home and cycled (to Withdean Stadium area). Both firsts. I get to see games to final whistle and avoid an 45 to 60 minutes standing with no 4G in the Mill Road bus queue. Doubt I’ll do it again unless there are monsoon conditions going to the game, or dangerous for cycling snow/ice.

Woodingdean walk is quicker usually (still a 15 min walk or more to the car park in the uni) - unless they’re not managing the traffic lights very well.

Not for everyone I know but I cycle there now. Takes about an hour from Portslade, not racing it, just going at a steady pace .
I look forward to the ride as much as I do to the game.
Only down side is you got to get there early to be sure of getting a place in the decent bike rack.
I do wish they would add more decent cycle parking.

We left 12:30 on Sun, time for a pie and a water and in the seat for kick off...
However as half you f**ers left early, the carpark queues had already formed and it took us near on 45 mins to get out of the Uni alone, the damn cheek of it...having to listen to Warren Aspinall and Johnny Cantor for longer than usual after that shower of sh*t nearly did me in...

They seem to have changed how they release parking tickets recently.
Initial release: Bridge only.
The week of the game: University, often a few hundred.
We discovered this by chance a couple of games ago when we discovered, to our horror, that we didn't have a parking ticket on the morning of the game. I checked the ticketing site, out of hope and not expectation, and found well over 100 uni spaces still available.
The pattern has been repeated since.
I hate The Bridge so it's created a bit of a quandary - do we pass on The Bridge spaces, and wait and hope for Uni ones to come up later on?
For the Palace game we bought a uni space and re-listed our earlier purchased Bridge space on the exchange and it sold within minutes, possibly because The Bridge is first in the list.

That's if you buy a season ticket - cost me £189 + £3 booking fee.
If you buy match by match - which is what you'd need to do noe - it's £13 + the £3 booking fee every time ... so £16 a game. Ouch.
I’m too late for the covered bike rack so use the other opposite. Seems fine.

If the kids are under 12 it would still cost you £45.50 on a match by match basis for 2 adults and 2 kids.
