I think that is an excellent point. How many more cases are going to come out where a senior churchman knew of wrongdoing and knew it was hushed up? They only ever apologise and say they made an 'error of judgement' when they've been found out*. Let's lance the boil now and get it all out in the open.Out of interest, has any journo asked Welby whether he is aware of any similar cases? Same question the Archbishop of York. What else have they been hiding away?
* Not that senior C of E figures are unique in that respect of course.
EDIT: Obviously they won't say anything. They'll cite ongoing investigations, unfair to name names, nothing proven, hearsay, and, er, GDPR.
