agree with all the posts that say he needs more time, i don’t think sacking him gets us anywhere now, besides, i don’t know any managers that get sacked after not winning four games.

one point worth making though is i really don’t like when people keep banging on about the ‘project’ or this being a ‘transition season’, with the implication that everything will just magically sort itself out and we’ll run away with the league next year. what happens if we don’t get europe this year? very obvious: immediately the JP’s and Baleba’s will want out, we won’t be in a position to ask for as much money and then immediately we’re left with two or three big gaps in the team. and then people will be going on about next season also being a transitional season because we’ve had to sell some important players. we’re likely never going to have this level of depth and proven talent in the squad again. if there’s ever a time to really push for europe, it’s now.

Absolutely zero chance Tony is going to sack him anyway (he publicly said he was doing a fantastic job 8 days ago).

We will persevere with him, however my real concern is with such a young squad would the player's learn more with a more experienced manager/coach.
Totally understand the club's policy of buying good young players, making them better and when the time is right sell for a profit. However would the player's learn quicker and more with an older and wiser head.

Not a chance of it being questioned let alone being actioned by the people above at this point or at any point this season unless we went on a 12 game losing streak which we won't. We are a good side but it's these silly mistakes which are costing us goals.

Can someone actually provide any evidence from Bloom or Barber saying the target for this season is Europe, let alone it's Europe or bust.

To be fair when asked about Europe Bloom’s response was yes why not.
No pressure target although he thinks the squad is good enough and he would be right.

His pre-match comments are galling but I hope he is saying something different behind closed doors. Good managers don't lose two 2 goal leads in the manner we do.

I fear he doesn't have the gravitas to motivate the players. They don't 'fear' and why would they given his pedigree. We're doing fine in terms of points but it feels so much worse than it looks.

I can't believe how utterly soft we are. I think shoe-horning Dunk back in has produced more widespread dissatisfaction let alone the debacle on the pitch. He can't cope with big or quick forwards. Getting pathetic bookings and staring at an iPad screen isn't a good look.

Lets hope Fab turns this round. It felt like just another defeat yesterday and that 'we need to learn the lessons'. It wasn't. We were pushed over by a bog standard Palace team. Palace. This game matters.

Alexis was asked who's the best manager he's worked under. Bear in mind, this is someone who's worked under Klopp, Slot and Scaloni.

Colwill said similar, JP , Solly, EF. All flourished under RDZ. Your last sentence is a point well made.
I'm no analyst, but RDZ period was the best I have seen in 55 yrs support. Mainly because whoever we played. In any game. I always turned up thinking ŵe can win.
Optimisism not same currently.

Lamptey is an effective right back, just in a different way to how Veltman is an effective right back. He’s had 2 assists and a goal in 4 or 5 appearances (statistics that I don’t imagine - although I’ve not checked this - Velts has matched in his entire time here).

His attacking output is excellent, however much people on here try to dismiss him (and no, I don’t think he’s ‘the answer’). He’s just a different type of right back to Veltman, and rather than adjusting tactically the recognise his strengths and weaknesses, we’ve played the same system spread across the whole pitch, with no extra cover for the defence, and we’ve constantly changed the RWer in front of him.

This isn’t on Lamptey, it isn’t on the injuries, it’s currently on our tactically inept manager.

And having a team of 8 first choice players playing a game against your rivals is not a bad place to be in this league. We’re making excuses if we’re trying to pretend it’s a good excuse for the managerial failings that keep happening.
