Wieffer and Enciso have to start and be our lynchpins in midfield and attack.
Would we dare drop Minteh for Lamptey on the wing?
Still effed at right back until Veltman and Ferdi make it, however.

On a related note, I see Trippier might be available in Jan. Quality LB and RB cover IMO.

Read this very quickly and thought you wrote you wanted to see Dunk in a three man midfield. I even uttered a spontaneous "YEAH LETS GO" before looking at it again. That would be something.

Anyway, difficult to give a real answer when we don't really know what the injury situation looks like.

I mean, its very easy to say something like "not Lamptey in a four man back line", but then again wtf is Hurz supposed to do if Veltman, Ferdi, Hinshelwood are all injured?

In the best of worlds (not ours that is, but use your imagination) I would go with this:

Verbruggen

Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Estupinan

Hinshelwood, Georginio, Baleba

Lamptey, Welbeck, Mitoma
lol …Dunk in midfield there’s a thought..would it be outrageous if we r thinking out of the box to say VH?

F me that was sh*t yesterday. Rather than twusting ze pwocess something needs to be done urgently to stop the rot.

Dunk MUST be benched. Disinterested, slow, quiet. Igor plays with pride and absolutely loves putting on the shirt, he might borderline gash but definitely deserves a start.

No more lamptey. Just anything other than him. Bring on veltman in a wheelchair or an under 21. Or maybe even moder.

DONT start minteh. As others have said better Vs expansive teams or with lots of space. He's hopeless when tightly marked.

Maybe verbruggen needs a rest.

Definitely bring in wiffy for ayari I was disappointed wieffer didn't start yesterday, has looked really good recently.

Plenty of food for thought.

Your pants.

Didn't Van Hecke play in midfield once for Roberto last season? Veltman also played there a little bit in the Ajax days.
Wouldn't be entirely against a similar curveball of some sort.

If everyone's fit I'd play:

................................. Verbruggen ...............................

Veltman ... van Hecke ... Igor ... Estupiñan

................... Baleba ........ Ayari .............................

........Rutter ........ O'Riley ........ João Pedro

............................... Welbeck ..................................

I find the suggestion that Dunk was disinterested laughable ……personally one change i’d like to see is a three man midfield …and hopefully the return of the likes of Veltman….Ferdi….Hinch
Correct.

Stop this arrogant idea that we are good enough to take on comparable teams, playing 4 up front. It is f***ing stupid.

My thoughts.

Centre Back - Dunk definitely didn't look disinterested. Bizarre comment. He had a bad game. I think he's more likely to help us defend their set pieces that Igor. It's a tight call, but Dunk starts with JP

Right Back - Great if Veltman is back. But we can't just rely on it. He's been "close" for about a month now and has not featured on the bench. If Veltman is out, then Lamptey remains our best option at right back and is certainly a better bet than trying a 3 at the back in my view

Right wing - Rutter should take that position. Pedro and Enciso in the centre. If Welbeck is fit he of course resumes, but i'm not counting on it

Centre mid - Ayari looks a better player away from home, so I think he has a good chance. FH might look at the 6 foot 4 ness of Wieffer and decide to put him on Soucek from corners though. Another tight call. Baleba of course, the first name on the team sheet.

Depends who is fit.
If all were il prob play

Bart

Veltman
JPVH
Dunk
Pervis

Balaba
O’reillly

Ferdi
Pedro
Mitoma

Welbeck.

At the moment I’d like us to be a bit more solid. I’d take a boring 0-0 to see some solidarity and defensive grit.

Overall I feel FH is still trying to work out what works best. He is trying to play the same way with a different formation than he is used to. At the moment balance is wrong. We are to open one end and the other end we have to many players in the same area when attacking.
At time like the city goal O’reilly scored the quick interaction and precise passing is brilliant. But sensible teams become compact against us and counter quickly into the space we leave and the attacks inevitably break down. We have stopped getting the ball wide and putting it into dangerous areas early as well and at the moment everyone seems to be playing in the number 10
Role and very few are actually getting into the box.

Lamprey was a candidate for MOM against Leicester. It started to go wrong.when Minteh came on. Georginio was doing an excellent job of providing cover. Minteh didn't provide hardly any.

Ferdi hasn't been much better defensively in that position - if anything he's been worse - but is another that looks better at Right wing. Another one. Veltman is the only answer at the moment or at least play someone on the wing that tracks back and helps.

In the main though. Attitude. Stop the diving, flicks, tricks and general wankery. Make the tackle, track back, stop the arm waving. Start doing the basics better.
