Over reaction.

He was left exposed in the 2nd half to counter attacks, but by design as we were going heavy on trying to score a goal.

Yes you see a player 1 v 1 against dunk and running past him, but JP wasn't even in sight in those situations. Harsh to single Dunk out for that performance.

That first half sits on the manager. De Zerbi gave us fluid, one touch attacking football, patterns of play which you could watch with confidence. We don't have any of that at the moment. It's a team of players playing together, vs being coached to be better than the sum of their parts.

Dunk has certainly had a poor run of games. You can argue there’s been a decline for a while. I agree, but he still has his qualities.

Passing from the backing and starting moves drops off when he’s not in the side. Van Hecke was also off it today defensively, but also made many lose passes.

Dunk also needs Veltman’s brain and voice on the pitch. Tactically Dunk is poor at marshalling the back line, and will talk himself into a booking. We’re also lacking experience in front of Dunk.

Came pretty damn close to scoring a Captain's Goal with that 2nd half header. And his 1st half backwards header back to Verbrugen was a thing of beauty. Alas, alack tho, those moments of play are becoming increasingly rare
tbh it was straight at the goalkeeper

Van Hecke and Igor were playing very well.
I said at the time that putting Dunk instead of Igor was wrong and has sadly proved correct to date

Also have been on record for over two years saying we need to recruit more pace in the defence. Instead we now have about 8 wingers!
Sign of a weak manager that Igor didn’t deserve to be dropped.

Not enough flashes of his old spark. He’s been immense for us for a long long time but sentiment won’t get us into Europe.
