Netflix’s starry espionage thriller, Black Doves, has been renewed by the streamer for a second series… even before the first has aired.

Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire headline the series, which is written by the acclaimed Joe Barton.

Adeel Akhtar, Finn Bennett, Luther Ford and Tracey Ullman also join the cast.

The series follows Helen Webb (Knightley), a quick-witted, down-to-earth, dedicated wife and mother — and professional spy. For 10 years, she’s been passing on her politician husband’s secrets to the shadowy organisation she works for: the Black Doves.

When her secret lover Jason (Andrew Koji) is assassinated, her spymaster, the enigmatic Reed (Lancashire) calls in Helen’s old friend, Sam Young (Whishaw) to keep her safe.

Look out for series one later this year.
Really enjoyable fayre, the comedy assassins and some decent acting.
looking forward to S2, not solely to see if Whishaw can stop sounding like Mackenzie Crook.
Lancashire solid as ever.

Bit late to the party I know but I watched all of the first season of Temple on a flight the other week.

It was a nice idea but just got a bit ridiculous which put me off.....but the season finale leaves a lot of unanswered questions and I still kinda want to know what happens so will probably give the second season a go.

Basically if I hadn't binged the whole season in one go it would have been very forgettable and I probably wouldn't have finished it but it's sucked me in right at the death.

We have now finished black doves. It was a little silly, but nowhere near Guy Ritchie levels of silly, so they pulled it off for me.

Just watched Carry On with Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman. Quite good fun for a holiday film perhaps trying a bit too hard to be another Mission Impossible.

Although I did keep expecting the villain to say "Infamy, infamy - they've all got it in for me" .................I'll get my coat

Just started watching Ripley based on the Patricia Highsmith novel The Talented Mr Ripley
Stylishly shot in black and white

There was quite a correspondence about it a few months ago here. Despite one or two things that annoyed me about it, it was probably my TV treat of the year, but then I’m a fan of Highsmith and’ve read TTMR a few times over the years. For me, a near-perfect novel, and this was a visually gorgeous dramatisation.

Black Doves - most enjoyable
Really enjoyed that.

The Resident was excellent too.

Currently watching Killing Eve having not been tempted when it was first streamed.
Jodie Comer absolutely kills it, to pardon the pun - Sandra Oh I loved from Grey’s Anatomy and is brilliant as Eve.
