Obviously a typo.☹️

What about a loan to WHU (or any other EPL team) (in the absence of any ability to call him back?)

Do people think that would help?
In this case I’d be swayed by what the player wants.
If he thinks a temporary move would help him get his mojo back we should help him .
At the risk of speculation I wonder if there’s more to his poor form than we know about.
He was so so good before and now looks a totally different player

He doesn’t look fit to me. He looks ‘heavy’, not fat or overweight just ‘heavy’, the explosive movement of the 22/23 season is missing. He actually looks like a L1 striker at the moment.

I certainly think a loan in January would be the best move for Evan. The suggestions about West Ham seem appealing as he will hopefully get more game time and face Premier League opposition. I wouldn't be opposed to some of the other options, whether it is Celtic, a Championship team, or somewhere else.

Honestly, it looks like Evan has lost a lot of confidence. There is potential, and we have seen glimmers of what he can do, but his development has been stagnant at the moment. Sometimes I don't realize he is on the pitch and it feels like we are playing with 10 men instead of 11.

Maybe the loan will not work out, but I think Evan should make that move rather than not.

He's sometimes quite sluggish. I don't think he is the quickest of strikers and I don't think Evan playing so deep helps. I want him to be hassling the defenders and getting in good goalscoring positions within the penalty area, a bit of a Murray/Zamora striker as others were suggesting, I think that playstyle will suit him more than constantly dropping deep into a midfielder type role.

Don't get this loan thing. Why can't he accept he is understudy to Danny. We need him if Danny gets injured. End of.
I was the one on the thread who first suggested West Ham (last Sunday morning following news of Antonio’s accident ) because I think it would be an excellent option for Evan to play half a season with a team that still regularly plays a single 9 to lead their attack and I’ll stand by that. Füllkrug may be wanting a move himself and Ings isn’t strong enough to start imo. Evan would have a real opportunity to get back to form with such a loan move.

Agree we would need Evan if Danny is injured or inevitably gets fatigued, BUT will need him to score goals even as an impact player off the bench (as he’s done before) or as a starter. At the moment it’s not much help to anyone to have a striker on the bench that for whatever reason is in a long dry spell - and that’s why people here are talking about loan options to finish the season.

If a loan to another EPL club gives him back his mojo whether it be WHU (or Leicester, Fulham or even Everton - all Clubs that would benefit from a boost up front ) and we start getting £90m+ interest for him again in the Summer, like any other young player, we wouldn’t stand in his way if he really wants to leave and financially it’s a job well done.

At the moment he’s a very long way from being a £90m+ player. He was never that level and never will be IMO. Despite a brief spell of paper talk I don’t think anyone ever made an offer for him. Might get half that if he starts scoring again, and agree that a loan would be the best option. I like the Celtic idea.

I think the loan is likely as the loan rumours are strong and frequent. We're talking to clubs about him I'm sure.

A little concerned about West Ham though because do well there and we might have a fight to keep him. Big club big pockets
From where we are now I’d take that problem any day of the week

The rumours may be strong, but the noises coming out of the club suggest that there is no consideration of a loan (or a move) at this stage at all. Barber has said so directly, and I think Hurzeler did in one of his recent press conferences. The club usually keeps such matters fairly quiet, so to come out so strongly with a 'No way' suggests he isn't going anywahere.

Well, going with the very big 'If' for a moment, firstly I think West Ham fans may understand the word 'loan' better than Leeds! And if West Ham has deep enough pockets, and are prepared to empty them to the extent that TB says yes, so be it. Way of the world, innit. I do wonder why it's only ever London clubs who seem to queue up to buy our players (Mac Allister excepted) and never ever any of the big clubs up north, the Liverpools and Manchesters of this world.

If he doesn’t go on loan, we learnt nothing from the Connolly situation

Entirely different - the exact opposite really. We apparently wanted Aaron to go on loan, he didn't want to go - Evan has apparently said he wants away to get game time, PB and FH say no way.

It does feel as though a loan will be beneficial for Ferguson, but it has to be somewhere where he will get a lot of minutes, so starting week in, week out.

The problem is neither Welbeck nor Pedro are strangers to the physio's table, and Welbeck's goals have dried up ever since people started saying "he needs one more to tie Pascal Gross as Albion's Premier League top scorer".

Given our luck with injuries, you just know that as soon as Ferguson is shipped out for the second half of the season, we'll have a striker injury crisis, and find ourselves having to play wingers as false number 9s.

It's a quandary for sure...

Very much this! Lots of suggestions about the loan which does makes sense but the elephant in the room being when Welbeck or Pedro get injured?

But as I said above, if that does happen, is the current Evan Ferguson even the next best option? I don’t think he is.

This isn’t a player being slightly out form for a little while. He looks way off the pace and has been really poor for over a year now. 1 club goal in his last 1,200 ish club minutes and the problem with Ferguson as a player is if he’s not scoring goals, he’s not offering anything.

West Ham are only 6 points behind us and we aren’t exactly on fire. That move will never happen.
Tbh our poor performances against lower teams are the biggest threat to us rather than any difference Ferguson might make at another PL Club. Everton could be the answer instead of WHU but I think he’ll get more game time at WHU.

Acknowledged several times above abd an excellent point but how useful is he as a rotation/impact/back up for Pedro/Welbeck if he can’t get a shot in?

I think maybe it is less of an issue than it would be if we relied on no.9s for our goal distribution - our goals do come from our inverted wingers, midfielders, even full backs - Adingra has scored 4, as many goals as Pedro in open play this Season, Baleba and Mitoma have scored 3, Rutter and Minteh 2 - Welbeck 6. Lamptey and Ferdi both 2. We’d be very unlucky to lose both Pedro and Welbeck but it doesn‘t leave us completely without options.
