Not sure the Amazon thing is accurate, ordered a couple of bits recently and I think the cut off for next day has been a bit variable / early but no issues with prime delivery items. Although have noticed a lot of things are more expensive than other shops / retailers so my spend there this year is well down
I suppose you're right as I've been a Prime customer for a few years now. Prime if you use it is good value for delivery charges etc. Over lockdown I started using them for bulk buying common use things such as bog roll, washing powder and so on. Price wise they are very competitive.

Amazon deliver most their goods themselves. They rarely use 3rd party couriers.

Deliveries into Amazon are taking up to two weeks, I know one courier company in the South East has 130 trailers full with consignments for Amazon that they can't deliver because they do not have space for them.
I understand that they deliver themselves, however you stated the issue in supply to Amazon is causing issues. If their warehouses are full with incoming supplies they're doing a good job of turning it around to go back out if that's the case. The throughput must be immense.

So another day waiting for my delivery from DHL.
I opted online to collect from depot. So off I go to Paddock Wood. Lovely lady tried to find my parcel. She got a friend involved but to no avail. Undeterred she said that this morning from 7 she would have another go.

Got an email saying sorry unable to deliver today but will be tomorrow. This update somewhat confused me as she stated because I had confirmed that I'd be picking it up no further updates would show up.

A second email arrived saying sorry the driver was unable to gain access to the property to deliver. Complete bollocks.

I phoned customer services and got straight through, wow, the chap told me all of the emails and messages were complete rubbish as the item was last scanned at the depot on Saturday so therefore since then all the messages are fabricated. the reason for the last one was so they can blame the customer for not being in!!

The saga continues......

I know they're busier than usual this time of year, but weve had two deliveries go missing in the last week, after not having a problem all year with others. One parcel ended up going to a completely different building with a neighbour last week, the other (DPD) was apparently delivered last night at 7.30pm....but there wasn't a ring at the door, and they cant provide a photo, so having to get a refund as there is no trace of it anywhere.

Anyone else still having problems with courier services?

On Saturday evening a DPD delivery driver rang our doorbell and tried to deliver a parcel. We told him that it wasn't for us but for a business about 100 metres down the road. He pretended (?) not to understand and still tried to leave the parcel but we refused it.

We run a B&B and as he was leaving, he tried to give the parcel to two of our guests but my wife told him again where the parcel should go. He finally left.

On Sunday morning, the same driver dumped the parcel on our doorstep and ran off without ringing the doorbell!

I got something delivered to a near by shop for collection, Yodel told me a week ago it was on its way there but haven't heard anything since, its a gift as well..

I have this conspiracy theory that all the delivery companies are in partnership with the video doorbell companies like Ring and Eufy. :)

Sadly the reality is the drivers are on poor money and probably given unrealistic delivery schedules. Accordingly, they fail to adhere to delivery instructions and the doorstep thieves cash in. It seems that for many the default practice is to not even ring the doorbell and they just dump and run.

Whilst not as convenient I prefer to have goods delivered to lockers for me to pick up at my leisure.

Bit of a stand off earlier with Amazons finest

Was getting an item of value delivered this afternoon and for the first time I’ve ever seen, was sent a separate pass code to give to the courier to authenticate that the parcel has been delivered correctly.

As an additional factor it makes sense in isolation however actually weakens the argument of courier fraud (where you receive a parcel but the contents have been replaced) as you cannot dispute anyone else was involved in the delivery

I said I’m happy to give you the passcode but want to check the contents mirror the order before I do., noting the value of the item.
He couldn’t understand the notion that even if my name is on the box and just him saying it’s ok doesn’t mitigate the risk of the item being intercepted during transit and replaced. (This happened lot when the PS5 first came to market)

I think the scissors I produced from my pocket startled him but was able to validate the contents before he left the driveway after the code was shared

As an aside in general the quality of deliveries have gone massively down hill. They typically don’t care (wages obviously) and don’t follow the basic instructions of leave it in a safe place ONLY if we are not in. I saw a guy pull up yesterday to deliver a parcel for us. I walked to the front door as saw him walking up the path, waited longer than it would have taken to crawl the path and due to no doorbell ring or knock opened the door to find him putting the parcel in a bush.

I asked him why he hadn’t knocked and he wasn’t able to give a basic answer, I suspect he is not the registered driver as saw him do the same a few doors up as well, bizarre

Amazon have been appalling in the past few weeks - just leaving parcels on the edge of the road where they can be easily stolen and in the pouring rain - not even ringing the bell so I don’t know they’ve been delivered until I get an email later.

Escalated a complaint- probably won’t go anywhere.

Parcel arrived today that was scheduled to arrive on 8-12 Nov!

Just read Paulie’s post above - so just to add, I confronted an Amazon driver last week who had dumped a £77 parcel of goods on the edge of the kerb in the pouring rain and ran back to his van (I was watching on Ring Doorbell which he didnt ring!) He basically wouldn’t listen when I trotted down the road to ask him to follow delivery instructions. He just admitted he wasn’t doing his job properly because he had too many parcels to deliver but made no apology or gave no undertaking that in future he would ring the bell and leave parcels in a safe place if I was out. He didn’t give a sh£t basically.

I order a lot from Amazon & had a delivery due to arrive today. Someone knocked on the door earlier & my initial thought was 'Who the f**k is that?'. I was very surprised to see a delivery guy there holding my parcel ready to hand over to me. At best it's usually knock & run. At it's worst they've left electrical items on my doorstep without knocking & last week someone sent me a gift that was very soggy in the morning as they left it on the doorstep without knocking. As I wasn't expecting it, I didn't check!
I have a wobbly step that makes a noise, my dog used to be able to hear it instantly & barked to let me know someone was there (it was annoying).
He's getting old & deaf now, I called him a s**t guard dog earlier as I came in & he didn't hear me shutting the door! 🤦‍♀️
I think the best ones were leaving a massive parcel halfway down my steps in full view & 3 kindles on the doorstep in the boxes that may as well have said "I'm a Kindle".
It's handy when I'm not in as I don't have to wait around for things, but annoying when I am in & they can't be arsed to knock the door at all.

I was waiting for an Amazon delivery a couple of days ago. I received an email telling me it had been delivered (over an hour before the estimated time). No call on intercom (I am on second floor of block of flats). Photo of parcel showed it had been left in full view of public on a bench outside the entrance to the building! When I went downstairs the parcel had gone. I am receiving a refund but have the inconvenience of not having the contents of the parcel :mad:

At this time of year courier companies will employ a lot of temps with little or no experience of this kind of work and probably very little training either.
There are bound to be more errors made

The refund had gone onto a gift card, & the missus had re-ordered straight away, as it was a Xmas present for our son....so now we have two items. Luckily its something I will use as well, so it worked out in the end.

The missus has just messaged to say that a Disney Store delivery shes been expecting has been refunded, as Evri have lost the parcel. She ordered some bits on Black Friday as Xmas presents, but they are now all sold out & shes really upset.
Evri have had it at the delivery depot since the 4th December...and only just told her its gone missing when she asked why it hadn't been sent yet.

Useless.

The refund had gone onto a gift card, & the missus had re-ordered straight away, as it was a Xmas present for our son....so now we have two items. Luckily its something I will use as well, so it worked out in the end.

I have just received an item that was refunded in November because it was ‘likely lost’. Seller said ‘give it to charity’!

With due credit to Amazon cr who refunded me, the item was from China ( yes I know crap from China deserves to get lost) and in my experience, Chinese sellers are a bit cavalier about parcels getting lost en route to UK - it seems par for the course for them! Very annoying when you've already got a 15 day wait at the point of purchase anyway but then it’s too late to order a replacement if receiving the item was time sensitive.
