Argus today: long article about petition, finishing with Council needs 150 supporting it for them to consider it. Currently has 43.

How about a counter petition to petition that the original petition isn't fully petitioned.

If the city dont want it then i don't. I think its a good idea and ive spoken to quite alot of poeple about it and when i explain it properly they get it.

I understand it can come across as a mad idea at first, but if you actually sit down and think about it, it makes sense. Alot didnt want Brighton and Hove to merge, but it was done to become bigger and better. What is Hoves status now? Its part of the city and it still will be. Its just a idea to simplify a name from Brighton and Hove to Brighton whilst keeping Hove exactly as it is now. A part of the city. If no one likes it thats fine. Then it wont happen.

As the Club originally played in Hove it was correct for "& Hove" to be part of the name. Now the Club has a new ground. shouldn’t the name be changed to Brighton & Falmer Albion?

Don’t forget Lewes too, or else all that NIMBY whingeing was all for nothing from them. It is, after all, right on their friggin doorstep, allegedly 🙄

Like i keep stating Hoves identity will not be lost. Its the complete opposite; Hove will thrive under the change because they will then become Hove in Brighton that will then gain more recognition for every single business, helping them financially and then helping the cities economy grow.

How about Hove & Falmer Albion? We've never played in Brighton.

We play in Brighton now. The stadium itself lies fully within the borders of the city of Brighton and Hove. It's only the car parks that are outside of the city boundaries.

This smacks of someone who got made redundant, left with a WODGE of cash and, instead of spending it on the extension the wife was discussing, he instead pumped it into his dream business venture. Creating 89,000 mugs with "Hove, the Pride of Brighton, actually" on. only to realise Hove isn't in Brighton and he can't tell the wife.

This is the only option.

Hello Eric,

Yes, I did join to promote the petition. I have a deep patriotism for my city and club. The reason I want this is because I want the city to be up there with the best in England same as our team . Our city often gets undervalued because Brighton and Hove are frequently seen as separate entities, which undermines us globally.

If this change happens, Brighton will be the biggest city in the South, fact. and to be honest, I’d love to see a sign saying, “Welcome to the City of Brighton.” That’s power. There definitely wouldn’t be any disadvantages, and we wouldn’t lose anything.

Put it this way—if a new hotel or residential development is available in Brighton, it’s naturally more appealing, isn’t it? As for costs, there’s no need to rush things, like changing all the street signs immediately. Hove would still be part of Brighton, but I’d love to see the first street sign with “The City of Brighton” on it 💪.

I’m not a councillor; I’m just someone from Brighton. My first game was at the Goldstone Ground in 1993, a 4-1 win against Swansea. I went to Gillingham regularly, taking the bus from Hove, and now I’m a season ticket holder.
