Other than Spurs fans (bitter about the 2015/16 title) I've never come across a football person who hates Jamie Vardy.
On a scale with El Hadji Diouf being a 10, Barton being somewhere up there, Jamie Vardy barely registers imho.

He’s a thug! When Van Dijk was at Southampton and out injured for a while, followed by gardening leave before going to Liverpool, it was Vardy who had accidentally(?) trod (stamped) on his foot…….

I saw a list of 10 players a while ago that “everybody loves irrespective of their team loyalty”. Jamie Vardy was one of them. Everybody I have ever talked to about him detests him because he’s a ferret faced whining little cheat and thug. That’s what the OP is talking about!

Yep - I quite like him. He always seemed like the scruffy underdog fella who has come up through the ranks and is suddenly scoring for fun in the Premier League. I certainly dont hate him.

...little cheat and thug? All Ive seen down the years is a very very good striker, with the confidence to go for it. Where was the "cheating" and "thuggery"?
(Ok - cue examples from a game in say 2019.... what player at that level hasn't a few of those?

Not everybody I spoke to used those precise words - but I’ve not ever had a conversation with anybody who likes him, and most have actively disliked him.
See words above, tedious, gobshite, windup, everybody hates him etc etc etc and then have a look at the model.

I can't stand that word. Partly because different people use it to describe two completely opposed individuals: either (in my experience) people with no money who wear tracksuits and rob shops or who are genuinely unpleasant, or people who have loads of money but might sound common and aren't exactly backwards in coming forwards.

Round these parts, among certain sorts, 'my chav' is a term of endearment.
That said, such sorts also address attractive women as 'treacle'.
And some such women seem to take this as a compliment.
I caveat this by noting that it is getting on for 20 years since I frequented the local pubs.
