I’m so fed up of those wet lettuces that say ‘oh, but little old Brighton are 7th in the league, Withdean, Gillingham, nearly going out the football league 30 years ago blah blah blah’ what the fck has that got to do with us letting a 2-0 lead slip with less than 10 minutes to go for the second time this season. They’re professional footballers, professionals! It’s like a surgeon turning up to work drunk!
It is like a surgeon doing open heart surgery and then going to the pub half way through the operation

Are you telling me we didn`t deserve to win against Ipswich-Forest or Wolves , and we shouldn`t have at least drawn against Fulham-Liverpool and Chelsea ( apart from that ridiculously high line which ultimately cost us the game ) .
No, I am saying we are seventh which feels about right.

It is never about what we should have done.

Hopefully we will get better from here on.

Or luckier.

Hang on another 606 caller..... James is nervous...."season has been amazing....".... oh wants to ask Chris where we ill finish..... <sigh>

May as well ask the cat.....

Here goes:

"need to be more clinical"

Marvellous scenes...... and Robbie cuts him off...

"Everything is alright at Brighton"

So there you have it :lolol:

But we didn’t deserve to beat Newcastle, but for a bizarre red card we wouldn’t have got a point against Arsenal or a truly unique offside we would have almost certainly lost to Man United.

You can’t have it both ways and say we haven’t got what we deserved in some games while completely ignoring where we have got more than we deserved in others.

You are picking the few occasions where we had some luck , as you say we all have some be it good or bad . I am talking about the games where there was no luck as such , but there was bad tactics and game management - something FH seems to want to blame the lads for today .

We don’t deserve to win those because we didn’t do enough to win them.

Where does this idea come from that somehow we deserve points from games where we didn’t do enough to score the goals we needed or defend against goal we lost? That’s what matters in games.

Avoiding NSC like the plague this evening, hate reading all the miserable bastards who are incessantly moaning, failing to take into account any perspective - these things happen, and we will have the opportunity to improve on our mistakes. We have a young talented team and a young talented manager - we are NOT Man City (although only 3 points away from them).

Before I log off for the evening, I would like to share my views.

Lots of positives for me today. Lamptey was outstanding - by far our most underrated player.

Good performance from Verbruggen, couldn't have done much for either goal, made a cracking save and good distribution.

Minteh looked lively when he came on - quality goal. Raw, but a real threat.

Wieffer showed some class when he came on too.

Of course there are negatives. We should have put the game to bed. We should have remained focused and positive. Hurzeler was too negative, and the subs did not work. Ferguson is not fitting in this squad - he needs to be loaned out to improve on aspects of his game.

All of these negative outcomes will surely result in lessons learned. As long as we DO learn from them, we are still very much in the race for Europe, and beyond.

Goodnight NSC - you miserable, negative, pessimistic, entitled bastards.
This 👏👏

That`s my point exactly , it`s FHs job to make the requisite subs if needed to see the game through , that`s what a managers tactics are

I agree with you but tbf some of those games you listed weren’t just about subs. Some, like the forest game, was bad defending/getting caught out with the high line. Thinking we deserved a draw in that Chelsea game is a bloody massive reach there 🤣

Having just got home I have mellowed a little on the way. Once it became 2-1 everyone around me was saying "oh 'no', not again".

I really wish we hadn't had any "Europe Again" chants and that we practiced "last five minute hoofing" skills. Apart from the unmentionable we played well. Should have scored more, as usual.

I'm finding it pretty difficult to fathom out what's going wrong. We were in total control at 0-2, Leicester were poor, with virtually no goal threat whatsoever...until we handed them two on a plate.

Hurzeler made the substitutions, but he should be able to rely on Premier league defenders being able to defend a powder puff attacking force.

I've rarely seen a side fall apart quite so spectacularly in such a short space of time, against a previously anaemic opponent.

The manager has to somehow get us back on track, especially with Palace coming up.
Finally a sensible post on tonight’s game.

It’s hard picking them out this evening - ‘delete-me-Mustafa‘ does have a point

I agree - it’s very hard to unpick it all really. I think just blaming the manager or one or two individual players is a cop out for understandably plssed off fans that need scapegoats but I think the issue is broader.

I wonder whether part of what we are seeing is the aftermath of busy summer transfer window with lots out and lots in - ending up with an almost completely new dynamic of players who hadn’t worked together before, topped by a manager who hadn’t worked with any of them before. The speed and intensity of the EPL is different to every other and the whole team need to be up for the task not just our better players - why is it so hard to find more than 2 or 3 players who have stood out in most matches? We have had some good results but we are not yet consistent because the players are not yet consistent.

I think we are too affected by goals, scored by us or the oppo tbh - it’s influencing our game in ways it shouldn’t. I know that sounds odd but IMHO we need to effectively ignore the scoreline while playing - the only team member concerned with the scoreline should be the manager with a view to tactical adjustments. The manager needs to constantly change what is not working which he is mostly doing but this is the Premier League where teams can pull rabbits out of the bag with 2 minutes to time - we should never think we have won a game with a 2 goal cushion until we have! In other words, not let it distract us if we concede nor distract us if we are winning - we just have to focus on the football at all times and in every moment until the final whistle - we know this so why isn’t it happening?

I made the Chelsea game clear , we played almost on the halfway line , if we had played as we were prior , we would have got a draw at least . Even after the first goal FH didn`t drop the defence back 20-30 yards , what the heck did he think was going to happen ?

Problem is we have at least one player who makes a giant cock up at some point in the game and we are being punished every time. But it’s avoidable - even my U8 football team know not to dribble the ball across their own box.

You can’t say we would have got a draw, that’s my point. Football doesn’t work like that, yeah we might have played differently and been better, but if we did, they may have played differently and adapted to us as well.

You only deserve the points when you do what’s needed and earn them.

.......... and the growing majority of posters who are contributing to this "Comedy Gold" ;-)

Yes we are all a bit miffed, but take a step back. I used to get my fix of giggles and entitlement by looking on the forums of the Top 6 and fabulous YouTube sites, mostly connected to Mark Goldbridge et al!

As far as forums and entitlement go, we are knocking on the door of Top 6!

We are a young inexperienced side (think Chelsea last year) with a young inexperienced manager - this is our level, this is our model, we are learning and sometimes that's football. We are lucky to have had an injection of £200m for both young and inexperienced in relation to the PL, players and we are expecting them to knit into the side and bring immediate results.....

I must admit Arteta should be getting pelters for not getting 3pts at Craven Cottage, when sides like us should guarantee 3pts going there and Slot for only getting 1 point at the 12th placed side - it's a funny old game.......

Lost count of how many different scapegoats we've had this season - have I missed the threads blaming Gully and Beryl the Tea Lady?

They say the table doesn't lie - anybody would think we aren't above sides like Spurs, Newcastle and Man Utd.

Anyway, I thought Lamptey and Weiffer were great today - oops that's not going to be popular!!
And the most patronising post goes to......

I met Sir Paul in Walkabout, I get 10 points for the trip.......a draw is a more than icing in the cake to a fun day in the East Midlands
